Not our first visit to this beat so easily found. Mostly we fished the swims downstream of the centre tree line. It was an odd sort of day, there were fish to be caught but the bites were sporadic at best. One angler in a downstream swim managed to catch five barbel (with two lost) whilst another fished the swim just down from the tree line for 2 barbel and 2 chub. Most of the rods did a bit of moving around.... but getting a spot to fish consistently proved tricky. The level of the river seemed good, I'd hoped for a bit more colour in the water (it was clearing rapidly as we were fishing). Overhead it was generally sunny with an occasional overcast spell, perhaps the fishing replicated this a little. Whatever, it was certainly not our worst day on the river... and to spend a few hours in a place as picturesque is always time well spent.

Fly on intermediate and floating lines. No offers. Access to water quite good especially in lower areas of beat. Would much prefer to have fished it when water a little lower. Would go again

All 3 of us fished the first part of the beat. Didn't start fishing until mid morning. Had bites straight away, fishing from the hut peg. Biggest barbell was 12lb 2oz. All fish caught on pellet. Was hard going in the afternoon /early evening. Lovely location will be back.

Couldn't fault the weather again sunny but with a chilly N. breeze at times. River at a good height having dropped all the week. Still needed 4oz feeders because of the pace of the stream and had several fish during the day and also had a couple of hook pulls. Best barbel 7-12.

Area:Upper Wye

Beat:Doldowlod

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

Starting fishing the lower beat but couldn't get to grips with the fish at all, the water being still fairly fresh and fast after the previous rain. A move to the upper beat proved beneficial with one nice grayling on a goldhead below the bridge and the others on dry Grayling Steel Blue in the run below the house.
