There are certainly quite a few fish in these Forest of Dean streams. All bar one caught on the dink end of duo, but having an indicator dry definitely helps in reacting to takes. Not sure I'd have caught anything like as many without it - and one nice fish did take the klink! All 6-10", great fun. And in today's conditions (light rain off and on, constant cloud cover, bit chilly) hardly any people on footpath and no dogs!!!

Phoned Nathan Jubb before setting off, we were advised that the river was too high and coloured, so gave it a miss.

A few LDOs sporadically coming off that trout were rising too but nothing prolonged. Didn't have much interest in dry fly offerings and all fish were taken on nymphs.

Nothing to report except accidental trout. The river was on the high side with 1ft 8 inches at the Trostrey gauge, but not too coloured, so there were reasons for optimism. It was good to be out casting again and thanks to owner Paris Paraskevas for the opportunity to fish it. However, I wasn't able to repeat his feat from last week!

Cold east wind, dull with low cloud. Just a short flurry of LDOs around 1400, but few fish rising to them. Very difficult fishing. First time I’ve ever blanked on this usually productive beat. Spring seemed to have been put on hold.
