12lbs hen fly Yellow Francis river 1’6” with colour. Caught tail of Turn Pool about 8’ from true left bank in about 12” of water

Fished for 3 hours, not a single take, saw one trout jumped clear of the water. Extremely fast flowing, would not contemplate this stretch without a wading staff. As always a stunning beat.

Afternoon session, river down 7 feet following recent flooding, conditions looked perfect however only chub obliged...am beginning to wonder where have all the barbel gone...!

1 x 12inch (kept), 7 x 9/10inch (released). Fairly easy access along the whole beat.

tough going as the water was very coloured however I managed to winkle out a few.

The river was high, although you could see from the debris left in the trees it had dropped significantly. Plenty of branches and weed came floating down during the day, however the water was warm (I know because I fell in) and had a nice colour to it. Caught 2 chub 4 & 4.5Lbs and a barbell 8lb 4oz. I think the week ahead will get better with the weather forecast.

A dazzlingly beautiful day of brilliant sunshine in the most beautiful of surroundings. Had an excellent catch of...leaves, enough to carpet a wood, but otherwise not a sign of rise, maybe because fish put off by the most impressive bombardment of acorns I have ever seen, driven by the brisk wind blowing down the river
