As mentioned by other anglers it would seem that poachers are at work in the evenings/nights and wardens are needed to police the banks during these times. This along with what seems poor stocking is rapidly becoming the demise of trout fishing at Llwyn-On. Anglers are not going to pay for permits if there is not adequate numbers of trout in the lake.

Fishing here is brilliant, good action all day! If canoes and kayaks are a problem for you while fishing then maybe here is not for you. I'm not kidding when I say there are quite literally hundreds of them on this beat, more than I've ever seen. I'll admit it was quite tedious at times, having to reel in every time a big group came through. Many boats where capsizing along this beat due to fast flow and rapids. This not being the case I'd have caught many more fish. Be sure to take heavy tackle and plenty of leads, it's snag central out there! I lost 4 barbel in the bedrock so be careful. Can't wait to come back here, maybe on a week day when there's less boat traffic.

Fished in the meadow until all the boat traffic started.the river ran red with them,so we went and had some lunch. When we came Lee and Nick fished the meadow again. Lee had a chub and Nick had a barbel and a chub. While I went to the woods and had a nice barbel and 2 chub.pellet and feeder.

Great place! Hopefully the wild trout population will hold up despite the attentions of a full house of FEBs (herons, cormorants, goosanders and egrets) but I'd also echo the comments of another of this year's fishermen who suggested designating Talybont as a C&R fishery. Now that stocking has stopped, lots of fishermen on 6-fish tickets (legacy of a stocked fishery?)could make a big dent in the population of interestingly-sized wild trout in this lake. (NB all fish caught today were carefully returned).

Lovely countryside, I fish these types of waters a lot. But this beat is terribly overgrown and it is on its bones. I saw plenty of fish about but casting, or roll casting was near impossible...

Fishing:Winter Grayling

Had a few hours today hoping the grayling were rising. On arrival at 2.30pm they were nailed hard on the bottom so nymphing it was to be. Picked up about 8 grayling to 15 inches and 10 trout up to the road bridge then the heavens opened and it absolutely lashed it down for an hour. After this there was a half decent trickle of olives which the grayling rose for. I picked off a further 8 grayling all between 10-13 inches to a size 18 olive and a couple more trout and it chucked it down again so decided to call it a day. Fantastic beat with a very good head of grayling..
