Beat:Cammarch Hotel Irfon, lower beat,

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

27 x grayling 8-17 inches, 2 x out of season trout 7 and 10 inches, Grayling Steel Blue, Tungsten Hare's Ear, Pink Shrimp. The river was fishable at below 0.60, somewhat coloured with much debris and leaves brought down by very strong winds. A day of two halves: fished dry during the morning with GSB bringing up fish, but switched to heavy nymphs when rises stopped as the weather front and rain came over at lunchtime. Quite a few 14 inch plus fish. A double hook-up on nymphs with a 17 inch and 15 inch fish on together was more than interesting - net the big one first. Finished around 4. A delightful day, despite cool temperatures, with the trees starting to take on full colour. There is nowhere quite like the Irfon at this time of year.
