First time on this beat and what a wonderful day it turned out to be with the barbel feeding well against a back drop of autumn trees in sunshine.
Started half way down the beat and had 8 barbel during the morning, moved up to the top of the beat in the afternoon and caught the other 2 fish. All barbel caught on ledgered PVA bags of pellet with either pellet or 12mm boilie hook bait. Best fish weighed 8lb 12ozs.
River maintaining its higher level and strong flow.
I'll definitely be making a return visit to this beat.

3 x Barbel: 10lb 4oz; 10lb 2oz and 9lb 8oz.
Any of the three easily beat my previous best barbel so a fantastic day on a wonderful river.

Area:Lugg & Arrow

Beat:The Leen

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

A good flow on the Arrow following all the recent rain, water coloured and visibility down to about 10”
Quite a lot of insect life but no sign of fish rising.
This is a very challenging beat with difficult access into the water. With steep vertical banks along most of the course, it’s certainly a beat that lends itself more to trotting for Grayling than fly fishing, Next time, I’ll change tactics! Not a very productive day’s fishing, even with some friendly advice from a local gentleman.
But did see two Goldcrests in the conifers near the bridge, which I have not seen for many a year!

River still up although has dropped back from Sunday's rise, good strong flow and not too much debris coming through.
Fished 4 swims in all, had the first and best barbel (8lb 4oz) shortly after starting in the morning , the other 6 came in the last 3 hours. All caught on PVA bags/pellet with either pellet or 12mm boilie as hook baits.
Another very enjoyable day on this beat

7 Barbel, 3 Chub
