Second time for both of us as 'beginner 'grayling fishermen, although reasonably experienced trout/sea.Had a session last October with a guide.Lovely day out, despite showers, but no fish!Couldn't fish the top run very well as rising river and too risky to cross. We put it down to rain, rising water, probably lack of ability to get the nymph down far enough or downright incompetance! Great to be on the river again.Bull in field with ladies and calves were semi- interested, but not a problem.

No fish caught . Hooked two fish in the Chapel Pool but both dropped the fly. Gave up in disgust as every cast hooked a leaf. The water height and colour was perfect, but very gusty winds and the dreaded leaves caused me to call it a day for this year.
Merry Christmas to all

River at 0.7m and coloured but falling. Fished Rock Pool from left bank and saw one fish running. Caught 2 trout. Benefit of hindsight suggests right bank is probably best throughout this beat. Stayed at Glanusk Farm approx 1 mile up river from Chainbridge which was excellent.

River falling nicely but wildly windy conditions. White horses on the river, like fishing the Severn Bore!

We started at the top section of courtfield but with no success so moved further down on the bend under the trees. We both caught steadily all afternoon on the stickfloat and feeder with the biggest chub being 5.5lb.
Sadly no barbel made an appearance.

1st visit to this stretch, very impressed plenty of bank and swims to fish. River was rising and some areas difficult to fish, should have really caught more, not sure why. My mate lost a good fish from the bottom field, I fished the top section.
Will be coming back for another visit.

KM concentrated on grayling and had two or three on nymph. SJ tried for salmon and had a 8lb hen from the Abercymryn Pool on a tube just as the river started rising. Before that, a few small grayling and oos trout on dry fly. By 3pm the morning's heavy rain had taken effect and the river was unfishable.
Thanks to Shaun the owner for the invite and for a great day on such a stunning beat.
