The river levels were low and the water relatively clear, though the flow increased during the day. We fished halibut pellets over feeder fed halibut groudbait and pellets. No fish in morning from the orchard field. Five takes in the afternoon from the lower field of which four barbel were landed (4-9 lb). Three barbel and two chub were landed in the evening from the orchard field. Noticed a considerable number of lice on the barbel. Superb day's fishing.

Having parked at the southwestern parking slot close to the bird observation hide the three of us then fished the SW section of the reservoir and the inlet river in dry, breezy conditions from 11.00am - 4.00pm.
Two of the fish came from the inlet river.
Although there were few rising fish the most successful method was found to be an emerger fly drawn across the ripples by the wind.

1st time fishing the wye and was a real contrast to fishing the more intimate close quarters style I'm used to... struggled initially to get to grips but managed a nice chub 3lbs+ and 2 barbel..
About an hour interrupted by a steady string of kayaks but on the whole they were polite and friendly as we were towards them.. Will definitely be back for another

Day overcast but didn't get rained on with the river not too low but enough flow. Have fished this beat a few times and enjoy the fact its not too testing and wadding is easy and always produces. Rising fish gave me a chance to practice my dry fly skills and tempted a small Grayling to a size 16 Deer Hair emerger. All the rest came Czech nymphing in the faster water and all fish came to one fly - Black/Green PTN. Only one fish to about 12/14 inches was the catch of the day. Wind and temperature drop made call it a day early. Best days fishing on this best so far.

Fished around 1130-1430. Stream was deeper and cooler with the recent rain but the water was fairly clear and looked very promising. The banks are getting very overgrown now making casting impossible around a number of pools - himalayan balsam in abundance - and I got tangled up a few times.
Not much visible activity; fairly few fish spooked in the pool tails as I tramped through, suggesting they were mostly holding in the deeper parts? Spotted one fish rising after an hour and, when covered, he promptly took an olive klinkhammer but threw it after a few seconds. No more rises seen and the three that did stay on were all around 7" and took a soft-hackled ptn fished close to the bottom.
Very pleasant afternoon.
