Unlike many of our rivers and, indeed, unlike much of the Lugg, even though it is incredibly low, the river at Lyepole still has a half decent flow. Away up river de bonne heure, with a tungsten nymph on point and a Purple & Snipe on dropper. Odd fish here and there until I got to some fast water below the weir - where I had around a dozen fish (mostly Trout) in a 30 minute purple patch. Did not fancy the downstream water; so went back up river, picking off stragglers with a dry, after an early lunch. Again, odd fish here and there until I picked up 4 Trout from a run where the nymph had failed to produce earlier

32.5 on the temperature gauge on the way home as this glorious summer of ours continues

Entertaining and educational day on the Upper Wye with Oliver Burch. 5 small grayling and a brownie.Smart, feisty litte fish all returned promptly. Dark Mooregame/Dark Snipe & Purple/Snipe Boa combination. Hair Winged Sedge and Parachute Adams.Water, although low, was a good temperature.

A stunning bit of countryside, but on a red hot day the fishing was very poor with just 2 tiny barbel. As we like to travel light and wander about fishing different swims, we were disappointed by the lack of swims on this long beat.

Again weather seriously too hot and lack of rain. A lot of algae blanket weed sticking to line every time you reeled in to cast. Again one of our group had a single barbel in the woods section about 4 pounds 8 oz. Also way too many canoes.
We will come back one day when the weather is more favourable.

Again way too hot and lack of rain and a lot of blanket weed and canoes it was always going to be hard fishing only second trip to the Wye, didn't catch this time but will definitely be back though.

Swims a bit awkward not very level and a long way down to the water in the meadow also parking not brilliant.

Unbelievable sport in current weather conditions but cloud cover kept fish feeding all day.

The section below the bridge has some lovely pools and runs, which due to the cover were fishable even in the bright sun. A good sized grayling was caught from the bottom of the beat.

Fishing the hottest day of the year was always going to to hard going especially with the river very low and slow.
Small chub landed towards the top end in the evening.
