Fished the corner upstream of the 4x4 parking spot. Used luncheon meat & halibut pellets, on a swimfeeder packed with ground bait & hemp. Hooked and lost a barbel, but had 2 small chub (both around 2-3lbs). Fish in good condition, went back well. River is looking low but there are still a few spots with enough water to be worth fishing. Beautiful stretch of river. Lovely day had by all.

Fished for 2 hours late evening, met another chap at the lower car park setting up, who was happy for me to park at the middle and fish up - which I duly did. One nice fish brought to hand with another lost moments before due to the line breaking! Must have been a monster fish - the only possible explanation. A few others seen rising but otherwise not much action.

Did not fish. Very hot during the day. My brother and I did walk/drive the entire length of the beat during the afternoon, and were surprised to see how few easily accessible fishing spots there are. The easier location is the wood rather than the meadow: but with the river low, and the vegetation dense, we would have found conditions quite challenging. Having resolved to return and fish in the early evening, in the event we didn't come back because sightseeing commitments with partners ended up taking us too far out of the way. Which was a pity.
