Had forgotten how much of this beat there is – and only got half way up today! River showing her bones but plenty of insect life around and a few fish rising – although the decent ones had to be searched for.
Fished parachute dries as always for 13 fish between us. 10 brownies from 4 to 15 inches and 3 grayling from 9 to 18 inches. Unfortunately the big grayling had been on the end of a cormorant attack.
There are some clonking trout in this stretch. I lost what looked like an 18”er when he took me around a rock and broke my leader but we saw two fish significantly larger than that…one day!
Thanks for another excellent day.

Two hours evening fishing on a beat new to me. Classic small stream stuff requiring stealth and casting through, round, and under trees. Determined today to fish dry only and yet there seems to be good nymphing water. Three fish fell to olive emergers of various sorts. IOBO fly (look it up on line) seemed very effective. three chunky trout netted of a good 12 inches and fat. I have only scratched the surface with this beat and will return.

Fished the Fly in very good weather and river conditions, however, the beat has limited fly water and access is neglected. The Bank track is considerably overgrown. Nothing caught, Nothing seen.

Lovely stretch of dry fly water and although conditions weren't perfect I had a lovely day and 5 trout up to just over 1lb. The fish were all caught on dry fly with a sedge pattern being the most successful.
