Same result as yesterday, lots of fish but their not interested. Nice few hours spent with Nathan (ghillie) tweaking the casting! Will return when conditions are better.

Fished overcast warm day for 2 hrs 3pm to 5pm. Beautiful spot. River quite low but some deeper pools. Challenging casting as lots of overhanging trees. Used 6"3 with#3 line. Quite a lott of fly life but only a few trout moving. Only tried dries but no luck maybe because I'm a newbie.Very much enjoyed Directions and service excellent.

I knew it would be a quiet day on the salmon front. Water 7" at the Llanstephan guage. Water temp 18C. I arrived just before midday and fished from the Mill Stream down through Rectory a couple of times, trying different depths and sizes of fly. Willie Gunn and Cascade were the flies of choice for me - unfortunately not for the salmon. Something knocked me in the Mill Stream early on but I didn't hook. Plenty of trout activity and upwings including a steady supply of Mayfly in the evening. I had a surprise swim up to my shoulders in The Rectory pool - much to the enjoyment of the dog in the house (The Rectory I assume) above. Despite the lack of fish, I had a great day and will be back.

Lovely stretch of river. Fished in the afternoon and evening, with showers on and off throughout. Numerous fish rising in the slower, deeper stretches, especially to spent mayfly late afternoon. Missed a few takes but eventually managed to net one.

three hours on a new beat to me. Yes the access is a bit of a pain as there is lots of getting in and out when confronted by water too deep to wade and then having to often back track to an exit point. However that is to be expected on the Monnow. It is essential to have studded waders to negotiate the banks which are hazardous after rain. As for the fishing not much fly life but that was to be expected perhaps during the middle of the day. Two nice fish fell to medium olives and another lost.

No fish caught. A few small pool runs were fished. Very challenging with such a low water level. Beautiful wildlife.
