We didn't fish due to appalling weather when we arrived. So headed for Sportfish, the pub and home.

Another surprisingly poor day... Even though the water is low, there is still quite a lot of water present and all the fish that were there are still there (bar any predated upon). There was just about no sign of any trout or coarse fish at all. I saw two trout rise.

In my first meaningful cast I hooked a beautiful 2lb trout, which after a stern fight, got off (b*****d!). It unsettled a salmon I didn't know was there and they both leapt! I saw a few salmon - more than all other fish put together, one of which was very big - possibly 30lb....

Rain due now. Roll on next week!

Another evening fishing small flies through the fast water. Cloudy with signs of coming rain. 6 inches on the gauge. NTR apart from one half-hearted pull; one salmon showed in Bridge Pool gutter

Had a Barbel within the first hour. thought this is a good start, well that was the only bite the two of us had all day. Disappointing to say the least.Barbel were spotted by the boys rock (which we can't fish). Use to be able to fish this in the past and the peg slightly below the boys rock. I have to say this is a beat i will not be visiting again.

Beat:Lyepole

Fishing:Trout (River)

Some occasional light rain and wind blowing down the beat which made casting interesting, the holiday cottage was in use so bypassed this short section, fish caught using weighted nymphs, one or two fish rising but no hatch today, there is one location where the cattle are getting into the water but maybe this is ok,

This was my second visit to Lyepole but by no means the last, its such a great beat . please don't tell anyone else about it.
