River was a little higher (few cms) than it's been recently from the heavy rain on Friday, but this quickly ran off through the day. Fishing in the woods on the rock and between us had 2 barbel - best 9-4 and one eel. Was very slow and expected a few more on a overcast day - really enjoyed it nether the less.

2 Barbel, 1 Other

The river was very low despite heavy rain over the previous 24 hours. We fished three swims on the upper and lower part of the beat. Managed just one 3lb chub and a lost fish.

This was a great way to spend a few hours, and it didn't matter that the rain was heavy for most of it! we waded the whole stretch having plenty of bites and converting 3 small trout.2 fish to T . Everitt and 1 to A. Davis. Tactics were gold head nymphs fished on a short line. Most of the fish were caught in the lower stretch of the beat. Overgrown in places but very enjoyable.

Much dryer day then yesterday, fished from 5 to 10, not a bite, more water on river and a lot of weed, which made fishing quite hard. Will return soon.

Beautiful spot, terrible fishing! My wife and I have fished this beat a couple of times before and had a lot of success but just couldn't buy a bite this time. River was just starting to rise and the swim looked great for barbel and chub but not a tap all afternoon or evening on either pellet or meat. I guess that's just the way it is with fishing sometimes and one of the reasons the mystery of rivers draws me back. Will certainly be back despite a poor day as I know the beat's potential from other sessions. Kingfisher whizzing back and forth all day was a lovely distraction from the motionless rods.

All small fish, with exception of one Grayling of just over a pound weight; all taken on a dry fly and all returned to the river.
