Kayaks every 10 minutes. A waste of time, nil caught.

Odd fish were rising sporadically through the day. I managed to miss about 8 of them, and caught just one. I felt they wanted small emergers but fishing them was difficult because persistent rain disturbing the surface made sighting the fly hard - my excuse anyway.

I have finally joined the Clettwr club and have the bruises to prove it. The river was very low with only the lower pools fishable. Managed two small trout and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

Started off at the lower end of beat where the swims are very difficult to gain access to and had 1 small chub. Then moved to the upper section of beat a lot easier to get into swims and fish....the fishing was slow to say the least, and the weather was terrible - wind and rain with the only rewards for the move was a barbel around the 4lb mark and a decent perch dropped at the net. On a much brighter note if you travel a good way which we do and stay the night before, you wont find anywhere better than "THE OLD MILL" at Hoarwithy, a lovely b&b which I cannot fault and they couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful... coupled with the pub across the road made up for the poor fishing.

Rained most of the day, river low. We were using mostly pheasant tail or hare's ear nymphs. I caught 1 brown about 1 1/2 lbs. there were a lot of smaller fish topping but could' entice them with any fly on the surface afterwards we thought they might have been taking emergers as there were a lot of olive hatches. We do need to gain more river fishing experience as it was very hard work.

As with the day previously my fishing pal had to cry off as still under the weather. Tried several sswims until the weather turned wet and then stayed put under the umbrella for the rest of the day. Plenty of chub action but just a couple of barbel after 5 p.m. Usual method of feeder and pellet.

Lovely stretch of water but I was only able to fish midday and didn't manage to catch a trout!

Weather bright with light breeze, some emergers out during late afternoon. Tried Czech nymphing and also a small light dun/black spider but to know avail. Trout there(6 - 8") but very skittish in the bright light and spooked at the slightest movement. The water was incredibly clear and sadly too low for ideal conditions. One of the most beautiful wild streams I've ever fished, so will try again when water levels are hopefully much higher.
