Having not fished caradoc for a couple of years it was great to be back fishing such a great venue.
Due to the low conditions I headed for the beach section below the bridge(fast water).
Although very clear, started off float fishing corn, feeding hemp & corn.
Within 45 minutes had my first barbel of 6lb. Then over the next two hours had 3 more decent size barbel and 3 small barbel, 6 small chub. Such a nice way to catch barbel on the float. From mid afternoon I went on the pellet feeder and had a further 5 barbel up to 8lb, also 6 small chub.
If a warm day be prepared for dogs , horses, cows and quite a few swimmers to be in the river. Oh! and don't for get the canoes. But all this didn't stop me catching.

Weather very warm and humid. River surly low with small amount of colour. All fish caught on pellet. Well keep beat

Fished the woods section. 9 barbel (around 5lb to 8lb) and 3 chub (all around 4lb) caught throughout the day, all on pellet and feeder. Lost 3 more barbel in snags and plenty of end tackle!!

One trout in the morning at the upper end then a few hours later at the other end, a grayling.

Caught on all methods one angler fishing french nymph other duo and dry, with honors even. Catch included an 18 inch brownie on a streamer in deep water at top of beat.

Very hot day and difficult to tempt much. A couple of grayling grabbed my sedges. River was quite low really which was just as well as I took a dunking. After drying out went back to meet the owner for the evenng rise but still struggled to get a take, even with a 12' leader ( although this may have been due to my casting ability). Many thanks Shaun. Decided to head off to the Elan tomorrow.

3 Barbel

First time on this delightful Beat. Great fishing weather and good flow of water. Very easy access and wading through the beat. Fished from the water treatment plant to the river gauge which suited me fine being a lefly. All this area is double bank and easily fished in places without getting feet wet. Most of Grayling being between 6 and 10"with a couple at 14 to 16". Trout were all over 12'and a couple at 16" all of the trout fought like demons. The surprise was the chub that I have never caught on the fly, nothing big all around the 8"mark, but very welcome. Most fish on dries and few on ptn nymph. Great day and definitely a beat I will return too.

Nyth and TyrCelyn - late report (sorry!) of a 15lb coloured cockfish caught by Chris Price on Saturday in the Cafn on an own-tied Black Bull.
