At 10 am I caught a coloured cock fish estimated at 14 lbs in Never say Die on a 11ft travel rod with a size 12 shrimp fly. This means that we have caught 35 fish to date.

First ever session on the Wye. Had a baby barbel of about a pound first cast and another followed shortly after. Then nothing throughout the day despite fishing hard and exploring multiple swims along the length of the fishery. Whilst not catching i did enjoy spotting 10 kingfishers, 3 salmon and an RAF Nimrod fly by. Later on lots of bats and owl calls. Last hour had a small chublet then right on last knockings had my first proper Wye barbel, a lovely long fish of about 8llbs. Hard work but chuffed.

Best of my 3 days here. River low and clear with good flow. Worked up from bottom of LA pool with small grayling taking emergers like DHE. Lovely to see fish rise in brief moment before taking. Upper pool fish unresponsive. Worked back down with 2 spiders and had more fish.

IT's been a bit lifeless on the river recently, including salmon-wise. I hooked a good fish which snapped my line, and another I didn't expect which took and got off.
On the bright side, I bumped into Jeremy Wade! I wonder what 'River Monsters' he was searching for on the Wye... !

Easy access to fishery and into river for wading. Excellent guidance from Oliver. Good to see E.A. Bailiffs on the bank.
