I should imagine in better conditions, probably one of the better beats, an exciting and very attractive piece of water with some fascinating runs, pools and glides. The very low water state with bright and windy conditions too challenging for us.

Another fun day at this idyllic location , arrived at half eleven , with a brisk easterly wind , and bright sunny conditions . The wind later in the day becoming very squally and changing directions regularly . Initially I fished a team of two wets , my home tied Clan Chief and bloody butcher , having four good takes , and four beautifully marked black finned brownies to the net , quickly admired and then slipped back into their home . Later on in the day , rises were steady in the boathouse bay , so tied on a single Coch y Bonddu dry , and had three splashy hits too it , the first two missed !!!!!! Contacting with the third , and back in the swing , did manage another two on the top . As the day progressed , the wind direction changed several times , making fly presentation hard going , so opted for the wets again , this time ,a flashback PTN and corixa pattern further down the Western side of the Llyn , having regular nips to the flies , and managing to net another three brownies . At half six , it was time to call it a day with ten feisty black finned brownies caught and returned . As usual great fun and the wide open space does wonders for your well being !!!!! Shall head down again very sooooooooooooooon !!!!!!!!!!!

An interesting paragraph about Llyn Bugeilyn , written by Frank Ward , THE LAKES OF WALES , ( 1931). . . . . . . . . . . . . .

" The Sheperds Pool " lies , dreary and remote , on a desolate tract of elevated moorland north of Plynlimmon , and 7 miles south-east from Machynlleth. The mountain views on the ascent to this lake are very fine. It is boggy land around and the water is peaty , but holds many fine trout . One of 4 3/4 lb . Was taken here in June , 1929 , on a Wickhams Fancy , fished dry , with a x4 cast . Sporting rights are held by Mr. J. M. Howell, and fishing is private .
