Enjoyable days fishing, though the wind made casting a challenge. Grayling were all around the 10-12 inch mark and came from the faster, shallower section of Lady Alexander's pool on a heavy nymph fished down and across. Caught a couple on a klinkhammer also. Trout 6 inches and came to same method before the stone catch area. Also saw a couple of lampreys in the shallow run before Stone catch.

A challenging day - very low and clear water, a chilly downstream wind and very little fly life.

A great day out. I must say that the swims have been strimmed back and easy access to the water is possible. Fishing bait pellets, sweetcorn and luncheon meat, chub caught on all three and also an eel on sweetcorn, remarkable. Nine pound barbel caught on pellet. Two points of observation. We had to do a lot of litter picking as a result of other anglers rubbish. This was definitely anglers rubbish as it was in the fishing areas and some of it shoved in under steps etc. Also anglers on the opposite bank casting into our swims as the How Caple side is much deeper.

Nil catch. Started early and saw fish in Maddox about 3/4 way down and Vanstone just off old groin. Canoeists started at 8.30 and then in procession from 11.30 onwards and made fishing virtually impossible so gave up at 12.30. Good work by Mick the ghillie in making it a more pleasant place to fish with good access.
