Started at first light and had bites straight away but no fish. Rain in morning did nothing to encourage me to stay past 2pm. Will be back later in the year for another go.

Nice day out. However no fish caught. Only one other person fly fishing. Too many worm, bait and power bait anglers for my liking to fish on fly. Shame really. Lots of litter too.

A beautiful spot but fly life was poor, certainly I expected it to be better. Predominant hatch was midge and they were not being taken until later on about 6ish when I took the two grayling on an emerger midge both around 8 inch.

Only very few seen rising, total of 3 fish seen moving along bottom, no rises to dry fly, water conditions were low bright sun and clear. Switched to wet fly and caught one trout which was of good size at 2 & 1/2 pounds.

River was low and quite clear. Caught on groundbait feeder and various pellets and meat. Canoes/kayaks were a real problem, lost count how many times they caught my line.

Casting practice really as only 6" on the gauge. Neck of Rectory looked like the only chance.
