Good day fishing.. 2 lb , 1 1/2 lb and 3 at 1lb. Beautiful looking fish

Forecast weather did not materialise. Flogged away for hours nymphing under a bright sun and in gin clear water. No chance and so it proved.

Beautiful spring day--big hatch of grannom. No salmon seen or felt

Determined nymphing lost two, but an early afternoon hatch of largish dark stonefly (!) brought one kind 14 incher to the surface and thereafter net. Very different from a few weeks earlier where fly and fish were far more in evidence.

Nil return but a lovely day all the same. Glorious countryside.

This was my first day on the Wye this season due to the flooding which began the week the season started. The water was at a good height, and there was a large amount of fly life which was good to see. There were few takers however. I saw just a couple of trout but more grayling, I think they were.
I saw no salmon. I hooked a couple of trout, one of which was a good 2lb but lost both. Beautiful stretch of water. I am longing to return !

Litttle insect activity all day but managed to coax 5 fish up to 1.5lb on small olive dries.

Bright sunshine and a high wind for most of the day, so pretty tough going. We managed 3 wbt between us, all taken on nymphs and all safely returned.
