4 Nice sized stock trout taken on worm on a pop-up cork. Tried variations of spinning and float and nothing doing. Number of other anglers stated they had no luck. I fished from 7:30 to 14:00. One fish caught just before 11:00 then rest between 12 and 14:00hrs

Couple of hours in afternoon. Arrow still a bit high and coloured but needed to get out. Olives hatching all the time but no fish rising. Tried on the top, in the middle and down deep - nothing. Relaxing none the less with dipper, and kingfishers for company. Watch out for new electric fence across bottom of top pool by bridge - now cannot fish from downstream.

6 x trout 7-14 inches, 14 x out of season grayling 6-16 inches, Deer Hair Sedge. A midday session while I was scoping the beat out for clients (not suitable as they don't allow dogs on most of it!) After a cold early morning it actually become quite hot and very bright. An extended an extensive grannom hatch went on for quite a long time, although the odd march brown and large dark olive was seen now and then. Nothing more complicated than a little size 16 hair wing dry sedge was needed and plenty of fish were rising. However, out of season grayling were definitely dominating the situation on the two pools I tried, as the results made clear. I left at 3 with the hatch continuing and fish still rising.

Turned up at the majestic Talybont Reservoir at eleven in the morning , initially a nice ripple coming from the dam down the lake , where I fished the top end . Bright sun burned through the cloud cover , making the day tricky fishing , however , the dinner bell must have been rung at around half six , as rises appeared everywhere, and it seemed the trout were being very selective . I eventually caught at around Seven , on a static black buzzer , a beautifully marked Talybont brownie of about a pound or so . It wasn't long before I was into another , again the same stamp , and not one of the two pounders that were crashing about mid water , taken this time on the green buzzer , again static . A great few hours , shall look forward to some sedge action here in June , and will hang on till the glooming on my next sortie here , as I'm told the sport can be exceptional . . . . Bring it on !!!!!!!!!!

Spent the morning upstream of Llanwrthwl Bridge and caught two Grayling best about 12 inches to a black klink, despite some hatches there were no fish rising and saw no trout in the clear water. Downstream of the bridge in the afternoon and in very bright sunshine and with a small but continuous hatch I saw no fish rising nor caught any.
As an aside a few days before I fished the RRA waters around Rhayader and again saw no evidence of any trout indeed I walked the banks downstream of Dernol with my polaroids on to see if I could spot any fish but the river appeared barren. Worrying?

A very hot day with the river high. Despite having Mick on hand, fishing was challenging. Tried spinning with a Devon Minnow and even used the fly rod but to no avail! Never saw a fish all day!
