Two brown trout caught early in the day, before the sun started beating down, one on a Klinkhammer, the other on a Sawyers Grub, best 15 1/2". Two others connected with briefly on the Klinkhammer, all in the rougher pocket water. The longer flats look amazing for the dry fly, and would probably have been great on this day, as there was plenty of fresh and clear water, but sadly I had to leave at 3pm so will have to come back to try that. A lovely beat.

Started in our favourite area mid afternoon and just as my friend commented on how peaceful it was it soon changed as several canoes capsized upstream of us leaving debris of boats, people, clothing and spectacles all over the river.
With a little help from us they got gathered up and dried out and on their way downstream.
The sun was blazing down so it wasn't the most productive part of the day anyway for us.
A little move downstream and as the afternoon progressed we started catching, chub first and then barbel. Feeder tactics and 10mm pellets worked well.
Wildlife today included a little egret, heron, cormorant, kestrel, buzzards and the very friendly mandarin ducklings.
Very enjoyable.

Caught in the cloudy conditions early in the day. When the sun came out over the very clear river, the barbel ran for cover!

After fishing Duhnonw moved to this beat for 2 6-8" WBT. Water very low and hooked fish jumping (rather than diving) meant lost more than usual.

River low and clear, and fish found to be in the faster water. Fished small pellets to get bites in the morning, but found that 12mm pellets were best in the evening.
