Did not fish due to forecast of heavy rain, didn't want to risk the slippery banks with my 75 year old dad. Thanks WUF and Don for a great fishery. No more days booked now for the rest of the season but might try and squeeze one in during October and again in March.

Weather good, water low and clear-plenty of canoeists who were all polite and considerate. Barbel and chub (one over 5lbs)on pellet, 3 small fish on float. Enjoyable day-even though results disappointing.

What a lovely still calm day. 10 degrees water and 14 degrees air. So where were the PWs and LDOs? Well, very few and even fewer rising fish. Bugged for much of the day with fish taken on pink shrimp and FBPTN. Also cast to the odd rise with a Grayling Steel Blue which raised more fish than took risers. What a great search pattern the GSB is in the foam at this time of year for ladies reluctant to get off their butts! Grayling from 10-15" and OOS trout around 12 inches by both methods. No fishing now for a while, then it will surely be time for worm swimming lessons!

Beautiful morning and headed for Caradoc on the basis that there were fish throughout the river and I needed to find one who wasn't used to seeing heavy fly traffic. Began fishing below the suspension bridge with a No12 Usk Grub (fly du jour it seems) and had a very gently pull just below the young Oak tree, resulting in a 12lb Hen fish- my first of the season, and safely returned. Fished on with blustery conditions getting worse and stepped down to a small Size 14 Red Francis, but this was too much for the local brownies to resist, so went back to a larger Temple Dog for the rest of the day. Stunning sequence of fly water, although lots of dogs / horses / walkers / swimmers treating it as a beach didn't help as the day went on....Big smile and happy to forgive anyone on two or four paws today though!

Three rods fished the bottom area of the beat by the metal steps. Had a slightly later start than really ideal, though a quick chat with the other two rods booked on in the wood revealed that no early success had been enjoyed. One rod in our group managed an eel on feeder fished maggots and another tempted a succession of bleak and minnows whilst trotting, but anything more substantial was conspicuous by it's absence. Then the canoes came, loads of em.... so we ended up leaving around lunchtime to head back to Oxfordshire. We all realised that there could have been a better chance of a fish or two at dusk, but we didn't have the staying power. Never mind, there's always next time.

Conditions seemed ok, but we didn't see or feel a fish. An excellent beat, with some pools that make casting quite easy for my 12 year old son.
