Hard fishing again, or we got it wrong. A lot of debris coming through from the rain the day before. Great stretch of river though and will visit again. We did manage 2 chub and a barbel around 7lb. Felt as though the fishing was picking up as we had to head home.
Wish we could be fishing this week with coloured and rising water level. All fish fell to feeder tactics.
Great day all in all. Can't wait to get booked up again.
Anyone looking for accommodation, we would highly recommend the Cottage of Content at Carey.
Note for WUF. Noticed no dogs allowed on this stretch yet the stretch is along a public footpath and dog walkers were present all day.
Would just have liked to have brought my dog along.

Mild and overcast with the river falling after heavy rain the day before. Rising fish in the flats throughout most of the day but none rising in the faster water. A good pale watery hatch through the middle of the day. All fish taken on small CDC dries and a parachute Adams. The largest only about 3/4 of a pound and we missed many more takes including what looked like some better fish!
We walked along the bank in the early evening and saw two men walking briskly along the far edge of the field towards the road with rods in their hands. We then found 2 freshly killed trout in the shallows where they must have been. We had passed by the same spot only an hour before so they can't have been there long. We have reported it to WUF and to the hotline number on the ticket info. Such a shame but an otherwise great day.

Delayed start due to over indulgent hosts the previous evening so only managed 2-3 hours on this delightful stream. Caught two very lively trout up to 9" on a pheasant tail gold head and missed a few others rising to a klinkhammer.

Nothing caught unfortunately, despite taking local advice. Very attractive river, but very difficult to fish. A lot of vegetation along the bank meant you couldn't get to most of the possible swims, even more tricky if you are fly casting. Banks so steep in the main, consequently impossible to wade in safely for most instances. A great shame. Wont be returning.

I was disappointed with how overgrown and hard to get to the river it was. On the entire beat, I only found one spot you could reasonably fish without having a 20 foot landing net. The river looked great, with lots of sign of fish, but no realistic chance of catching them.
Would not recommend as it stands.

Raining very heavy all day but warm. Grayling to 1lb 4oz, brown trout all very small and didn't see any signs of bigger fish. Second day river faster due to rain. Water temperature cooler so put fish off the feed. Only 2 small Browns. All caught on brown nymph stone fly imitations.

This beat is incredible, after no action the previous day further up river today was the complete opposite. I decided to fish purely for chub and wasn't disappointed with so many fish caught that I lost count. Feeding pellets for 40 mins before casting a speci waggler across it was fast and furious action with 3 fish over 5lbs and probably 12 over 4lb. Thanks to Colin for looking after the beat and all at WUF.

Gosh, this is a magnificent beat...so much water and variety. When I booked the water was low. When I went it was nearly 2ft on the Llanstephan scale, but falling. I fully expected to see salmon everywhere, but didn't see a single fin. Another fisherman was there and he said he hadn't seen any either.
I only saw a few trout and the 4 that I caught I did not see and all took a nymph. They were all small.
