Our first visit to this beat. The fish were cought on pellet feeder with Mainline 10 mm boilies on the hook and rolling meat. Barbel to 7lb and chub to 4lb with 1 eel. Had some helpful advice from Don the owner and we all had a enjoyable days fishing. Will book this spot again.

Caught first fish (2.5lb rainbow) just after arriving at 7am on ledgering worm on a cork pop up. Lost two in a short period after, and one further snapped my 3lb line clean after playing the fish for a few minutes. It went dead after 7:30am and I tried spinner, float, but nothing doing. Even with pop up I was plagued with crayfish and had 6 landed. Just before packing up at 3pm my friend had a nice 3lb rainbow on worm. I lost a further fish when I had a very hard bite that snapped my line immediately.

Got to the beat and made way to the lower section first using paths. The Island pool was inaccessible because of muddy bank. Tried to make way up along river to Flats thru woods (jungle as described in beat map). No bank access, several foot bank slide into water of unknown depths. Doubled back to foot path and crossed field. Climbed wood gate down to top of Quarry. Access onward upstream along river & over gully seemed uneasy because of large drop. Waited here until 9AM to call Foundation. Spoke to Louis, he agreed access is adventurous. Said he cleared access to Top Pool and that was our best bet. Tried to explain that we chose this beat because it was described as easy underfoot not adventurous. He says talk to Allison about unfair beat description.

After conversation, made way upstream per Louis recommendation. Nice stretch by white water. Stopped due the morning about 1300, head wasted most of the morning after 600 fighting for access. Came back in the evening after 1800 and caught to rising fish on spinners at tail of riffles.

Best recommendation, access from up stream and wade down if you want the whole 1.2km. Wading is easy and the fish don't spook so bad.

Nice cooler day after the earlier heatwave. First trip of the year and whilst river low the conditions were perfect and the fishing as good as normal. Some much appreciated bank work has been done with overhanging branches cut back which made life much easier - thanks to whoever did that. Eels, canoeists and other slimy things were around in numbers but all generally well behaved except one large school party that decided to stop and re-group right in front of me - "how's the fishing?" called out one of the teachers - I bit my lip hard.

Many thanks WUF, cracking day. Looking forward to the next one.

Started at 4am, before it got too hot and found some shade in the woods along walk up the hill. Caught plenty of chub on pellets, many thanks.
