Nil return. The M4 prvented us from getting to the beat before dark and we were struck by several rains showers before dark. We got a couple of knocks but no fish and gave up at 5 am. We will return.
Quick note to the Wye and Usk. Please could you make the major pools on the map of the beat as it is very difficult to see features if you arrive after dark.
(WUF note: excellent idea, will get in place for 2017)

Nice beat with easy access via a flat all across two fields to the river. Lots of glides with far bank cover, although recommend checking the depth and flow before fishing the far bank cover as some of the swims are shallow with little flow.
We fished open ended feeder, 4ft hook lengths on pellet for micro chub and 3 barbel to 08:07- barbel were in the fast water. Lots of options on this beat different swims to fish. River looks stale when we fished as needed a flush out and more flow. Another nice stretch in peaceful surroundings.

3 Barbel, 1 Chub

Lovely place looked brilliant all week. Day booked when I could get signal then gale force winds on day put stop to anything. Was disgusted to see a group of course fishermen huddled in shelters. Who knows how many fish they have taken!!! Won't be back would rather get up check weather and buy ticket from a machine.

River low and clear, settled into two swims near the car park, I quickly moved after snagging up a few times and finished with 3 chub, got desperate at the end and had the last 2 on bread, couldn't buy a bite on all different pellet or meat, CH had 4 barbel and lost 4 in a snag plus quite a few feeders, biggest weighed in at 9.1lb, basically he battered me, next stop Foy tomorrow.

2 rods fished on Friday 19th August, 1 on fly 1 spinning. Conditions were rainy in the morning and dry and mild in the afternoon.
The river was in great order with plenty of fish showing in the morning and very little canoe activity which was a bonus!
Massive plus for the day was the advice and company of resident ghillie/gilly Mick Sutton. His knowledge of the beat was superb and his stories even better! It was our first time on the beat but will always book him and strongly recommend anyone else to do the same, a really top man with a good nature, and very reasonable priced!
No fish caught but we had a superb day.
