Cold and windy day, fished in the bay from 7-10am, one bite, no fish. Moved to the boat slipway but very cold and windy, no fish. By 11am I had had enough. Going to wait until it gets a bit warmer I think.

We fished Saturday and Sunday at Whitney, Saturday beat 2 and 4, Sunday beat 6. The river was low and clear making fishing difficult, the strong blustery wind made it hard to control a float. The chub were tucked away under trees and could not be tempted out by maggot and float. All fish were caught right under cover on meat and cheese paste. The one small grayling came to maggot.
Met Terry the Bailiff who was very helpful.

Great to be back out on the Wye. Water a little on the high side but colour was good. Salmon proved to be elusive but tried our best with FC's, Devons and a selection of early season flies. Just the 9 polite canoeists all day. Excellent accommodation at Red Rail Farm.

Fished 7.30am to 6.00pm, water temp.6c, air temp 16c, bright sunny day, light wind SW.
Track down the side of the orchard too muddy needed a 4x4.
Parked on the bend in the road. Fished 5th & 6th pegs into the meadow. Barbel & Chub caught on a hair-rig bunch of red maggots with a feeder of hemp and halibut pellets. Trout & grayling on trotted red maggots.
What a lovely stretch of river. On to Preston Court for the final day.

Three anglers fished three separate stretches of W and U including Courtfield. The river looked in perfect condition but unfortunately the fish failed to play the game. Total catch for all three beats was six chub and one barbel. Hope to do better in August.

River cloudy, sun was out but very windy! No fish caught or seen. Nice beat with lots of potential. Kingfishers seen and unfortunately a mink in lower weir pool. Fished 9am til 2pm. Will return - many thanks.
