A few fish seen but no response to my fly. A few canoes but not all day and not much of a problem.

River very low and clear and bright sunshine. We fished various pegs for 3 barbel and 13 chub all caught on pellet. A very nice beat and we will be back

I had the beat booked for the Wed/Thur/Fri. Only managed to fish the Wed & Thurs in the end. River at normal summer levels on the Wed, slightly up on the Thurs. Challenging I would say. I fished a variety of tactics including PVA bag, flat bed feeder, cage feeder. Caught fish on halibut pellets but all Chub. No barbel. Most were in the 2-3 lb range. Best about 3.5/4lbs but disfigured by a half ripped off face below the right eye socket and a chunk out of its flank. These were fresh wounds and I treated with the antiseptic fishcare gels I carry for this purpose. Hopefully the fish makes it. The culprit I believe was an Otter I had seen on the Wednesday on 2 occasions in the swim. Such is nature I guess. Overall a great time though, and the walk was "invigorating" - you feel you have worked for what you catch whatever it is.

Arrived to find the river low and clear although it did rise a couple of inches towards the end of the day. Mid morning rain gave way to sunny spells throughout the afternoon and evening. Caught 3 chub from the fast water at the bottom of the beat and 4 more plus a half pound barbel half way down the left bank. Brother took 5 chub and a barbel (also half a pound) from immediately below the bridge on the right bank. Bread and meat were the successful baits. A good day on a nice stretch of water.

A washed up tree trunk in the bottom swim could do with being removed but it's the size of a telegraph pole.

We fished at the meadow for 8 hours using pellet with cage feeders, tried just about every hook bait and didn't get one single bite between us all day!
Other anglers in the woods had a couple early on and that was it. Very disappointing day! Also the whole stretch of river is large to huge rocks on the bottom so kept getting snagged up and was losing gear all day!

Change of plans meant a short morning session fishing alone with stretch to myself. Lost fish first cast, then proceeded to lose lots of tackle to snags trying to find fish in four different swims. One eel the only return. Not the best session ever.

Fished from 10am til 7pm, conditions were spot on with cloud cover for most of the day. Listened to advice and fished the bottom pool which turned out to be a barbel nursery with lots of fish caught under the 1lb mark and bites coming within seconds. Biggest caught was around 5/6lb and some nice chub to 4lb and 1 eel!
All fish caught on feeder and pellets and for those looking for quantity we would highly recommend this beat.

Quite a challenging day on a lovely stretch of the river. Despite moving swims a number of time we didn't have a bite until 7pm and then between 7pm & 9pm caught three barbel (biggest 6lb 14oz).
