Started the day at a buddies farm over Herefordshire, having a recce for some bunny bashing, later on in the Summer, then onwards to the Arrow at Whittern. Fished quickly between the two bridges, nothing looking up in that hour and a quarter, river at a great height, could perhaps do with a flush through, fish will be looking up very soon here !!
Onwards to s favourite local beat, thd Edw .... Fished from three till five . Plenty of insects to keep them looking up !!! Had some fun in the pocket water... fast as adders, managed five to the net ... only small chaps great fun on the dries though ......
A real Spring day with lambs, snakes head fritillary bordering the Artow, and watching a pair of dippers which was amusing...A fab couple of hours on what Is now nearly a river on its bones !!!! In April too ...But, the long range forecast does look more like April. With heavy showers and supposedly prolonged boughts of rain!!! We shall see ....Right, lots of leg work done, cider time !!!!! Lol .....

Red letter day, on the dry and nymph, numerous trout and grayling, many more missed. Again fabulous day on this beat in excellent weather.

All caught on the bottom with worms. Had no joy with a fly. Could see a few rising just after 8AM but to no avail. Was very calm on the water. All very well fighting fish and always a pleasant day out.

Chilly start no wind. A number of trout rising over the gravels taking micro flies. Managed to hook and land a 12" trout which took a March Brown dry fly, in a pool by the exposed rocky area on the corner, around mid day. Bright and sunny in the afternoon. Fish stopped rising. No luck with nymphs. Water level very low and very clear. Nice day out.

No fish caught. Very low and clear water and very spooky fish. There were fish rising but even use of the finest of tippets was enough to spook them.

Brief session. A hatch pulsed around midday and brought a few fish up, but it was short-lived.
Fish on a mixture of dries and duo.

Unseasonably warm with a niggly upstream breeze. Strange conditions for April!

Just a quick shimmy up the top section of the beat , she's in dire need of a good flush through to be honest...Warm and fifteen degrees when i bowled up at the bridge parking area ....
On arrival, some olives and sedge on the go, and also some large brook duns .....
Not much surface activity in fairness...A slow slow wade up a very low river ...The usual locations produced . One was to a riser, the others, caught prospecting in likely water !! Certainly a good five inches extra on height Is needed, just to put some zest back into the Ithon.....
Parts of the Wye at Builth yesterday in the slow stuff , were festooned with that bloody aweful bright green algae !!!!! Rain needed, lots of it too !!!
Fish were of the usual stamp here today, and cracker of perhaps ten inches, the other two seven and eight respectively.....
A fun session from two till four .... back home nd hose the garden afain I suppose !!! Happy days ......
