After the previous report from T.W I had to take a look. I only fished up to the pipes, however, I also saw little fly life, no rises and no spooked fish. I am aware that this brook can be at least a month behind most others, so only tentatively do I agree to being concerned. On a positive note at this time of year a visit is worthwhile to see the Pied Flycatchers and Redstarts along the upstream tree line in the first field.

First time on this brook this morning. Access is straight forward but wading is essential and casting is tricky. It's small but there is a good mix of fast runs and deeper pools. Not much rain lately and from the look of the banks the level can get quite a bit higher. Fished for a couple of hours working upstream taking it very slow. A lot of midges on the water but saw just two rises. Fished the duo with a Klink and gold head pheasant tail size 18, took 4 lovely little brownies to hand all about 7 inches and hooked and lost 2 more. All took the nymph and were returned safely. A stealthy approach is essential for this brook.
There are two places where barbed wire stretches across the water so watch your waders!

A lovely river that reminded me of the brook that ran past my house as a child in which I spent many an hour paddling around after stickle backs and stone loach
had a really enjoyable day well afternoon as customers with problems got in the way of an early start caught two on dry fly and rest on small nymph fished upstream
Some Mayfly were starting to emerge I saw dippers, robins, a stoat, and a squirrel that was nearly the size of a cat. No canoes this time.

Lovely day with blue sky and hazy sunshine. Air temperature rising to well over 20C. Water temp. 12C. Arrived at 12 noon and fished until 3.45pm. According to fellow angler there had been a light hatch of medium olives, resulting in a rise, at around 11am. I fished dry olive pattern and had 6 trout up to 1lb 2oz, fishing to occasional rising trout or fishing 'blind'.

Superb stretch of river , very hot and sunny day though. Caught a few small trout and grayling plus a couple of decent chub. All fish on a small goldhead hares ear nymph. Very enjoyable and Terry the Ghillie was excellent, he could not have been more helpful.

Bright sunny day. Wind was very variable in direction. Water level was 0.30m at Brecon. Condition was very good. I was on the water for a long time and did not see anything of a hatch. Tough day for fishing - although I expect the heron I saw had better luck than me. Managed a couple of WBT on a pale yellow may in the flats at about 10:00am. The one that got away was a beauty but you know that story......
After that everything stopped.
First time on this beat for me - not sure about beat limits as the map shows that the top end of the beat ends an open space at Afon Crawnon but there is a prominent "PRIVATE" sign before the Crawnon?? Please clarify for anglers wishing to fish the Crawnon Pool.
