Lovely looking stretch with faster shallow water and deeper slower glides. Fished pellet feeder and waggler but struggled to catch during the day with only 1 chub and 1 barbel between us. Had 5 barbel in the evening once the sun was off the water.

Really interesting beat and many different types of swims to investigate. Most of the chub caught on the stick with small pellet along the biggest barbel [typical].

Fished the runs from Rhydycar up through Merthyr Town this evening. Not much fly life around until around 19:00 when a large number of bwo's came off the water and fish started rising and put a single dry fly on. Caught two dozen fish ranging from 1/4lb up to 2 1/2lb. Out of the two dozen fish only 1 stocked around 1lb, otherwise all wild fish.

Found this beautiful stretch in perfect condition after a little rain, which put a little colour into the flow. A stunning beat which you could fish for days on end. Caught a lot of small trout and grayling on weighted nymphs and found it hard work to find the bigger fish. Not a huge amount rising so persisted with the nymphs which when fished hard on the bottom did pick up the better fish. Biggest being a grayling of just over a pound.
The beat is well maintained and we will return. One little issue was a family walking their dogs along the beat, dogs were running free and out of control, ate our lunch which was on the bank and constantly barked for an hour!

I started fishing at 7pm but the sun was still too high and so just waited until about 8:30pm. At about that time the whole river came alive for about an hour and a half. I had a 2lb brownie on a sunken spider in the faster water just above the bridge. Then had a go for the fish down below the bridge which were rising like crazy. Lost a couple. A great evening's fishing!
