Lot of fish rising but blank day

River low and clear.Fished the Livox stream on gillie Joe's advice. Full floating line, 15ft. 12lbs. Leader and size 14 silver stoat.Hooked and returned a 12in Grayling in the fast water then fished on down to Rabbit hole run where I had a small pull which turned out to be a
10lb Hen Salmon! Many thanks to Joe for assisting. I love my trips to Wyesham and do so enjoy the craic at lunchtime. I should like to thank my fellow rods and Joe for showing me such kind consideration now I am 85.

1 Salmon

Fished from 7am until 12.30pm when the rain set in. River was low and clear not best conditions for barbel. Hopefully the rain in the afternoon and overnight should bring the river to life

I saw some salmon had been jumping but no luck unfortunately. Will try again.

River at a good height and clear. Rain not too bad under the canopy. One of the trout was actually a little Parr.

Fished Pellet feeder. Fish were all 4lb or less.

Conditions very good. Caught 8 grayling on dry fly and one trout also on dry.

Quiet afternoon and early evening - no fish seen

On a day that went from dead still to increasingly very windy and with the Ddoll Farm guage at 10", there were essentially no insects and no rises all day. One female adult and four large young goosanders kept me company for much of the first half of the day, leading the way as I made my way up the beat. Tungsten beads were therefore the order of the day (I had another heavy metal in mind for those birds!) and, with the depths duly dredged, eight grayling of 12-16" (the best 1.5lb) and two trout of 10-12", obliged. Half as many grayling again were long-distance released. A 3.5mm tunghead flashback PTN variant, and a smaller Duracell nymph on the dropper, did the bizz on the day. Oh for some surface activity again.

3.5 lbs fresh grilse on fly.Fair numbers of very small grilse coming into the river. Hopefully their size should increase as the season progresses.
