A beautiful sunny spring day with cloudless skies and an easterly wind didn't bode well and sadly I didn't see or catch anything all day. Despite this, Trelough really is a wonderful place to visit. I tried a number of baits but none seemed to be on their menu today. Probably down to my lack of talent so i'll rethink and try another tactic next time.

The river was low and gin clear but there were rises in a few pool especially towards the end of the beat. We fished mainly dries to fish rising sporadically with no takers. And then my mate caught his first Usk brown and his first fish of the season - not bad! I had a nice walk in the beautiful Welsh countryside.

Beautiful, sunny day with the river now down to summer levels which made fishing quite tricky, especially when the wind picked up in the afternoon. There was a intense hatch of olives at around 11.30am that brought the fish to the surface but relatively quiet after that. A few fish came up to an olive emerger pattern cast speculatively later in the day.
5 trout in total, 3 at 13" and two better ones at 18.5" and 19" with a few decent fish lost too.

I’ve never fished this beat before, I can’t think for the life of me why because this is perfect for me but need to return once we’ve had some rain as today the river was quite skinny.
Fished 10:00-14:00, no real hatch in this time just a few singles coming off. No fish today unfortunately but still an enjoyable few hours.
