As perfect a day fishing as I can remember. I went to the river twice today and caught consistently on a very small gold-beaded nymph under a klinkhammer. The river was nice and full with the colour fining out as the day went on. I also caught on a nymph set-up through the deeper pools and finished the day - still cool but brighter - catching some on a dry. At least three fish comfortably nudged the pound mark (maybe a touch more in a couple of cases). A beautiful day.

Firstly river was up by 2 foot and pushing through with trees and branches Amazon style. Packed up to return in evening. Put out a feeder rod. 15 min later PB Barbel of around 7lb on double krill dumbbell. River level looked to be lowering ready for the morning. Parked car ar top and walked down. At least 2 vehicles got stuck on the track of doom.

Had a lovely afternoon on this beautiful beat. One good Brown Trout of approximately a pound in weight caught and returned. Caught using a small brown, coachman classic. Some areas were extremely slippery under foot due to the brown algae/sediment covering the bottom, so wade with caution. Saw a Kingfisher.

Have been fishing this beat for the last 4 years and have never drawn a blank before. Tried everything without a single bite, very strange. Conditions good, river had a good colour and levels reducing.
