First time on this stretch, very impressed. Low water but managed to find a few fish. Would fish this stretch again.

Tough day. River low and cold with good clarity mixed with bright conditions seemingly put all but 1 barbel into a hunger strike! We tried multiple swims and trotted both bread and pellet and the usual static fishing. On reflection it may have been worth taking a few pints of maggots but sometimes you get days where you just need to soak up the sun instead.

River a little on low side due to lack of rain in catchment area. Most of the anglers fished feeder in the middle of the river or towards near edge. Three out of four anglers blanked and had 1 bite between them. The fourth angler managed two chub, approximately 2lb and 2.5lbs. Both these fish fell to luncheon meat, one to a size 16 hook attached to a 50grm open ended, small swim feeder. (The leader was 3 feet long) After missing a couple of bites, a twenty pence size piece of luncheon meat was trotted down on a stick float resulting in the 2nd chub. Both fish were in pristine condition and were caught about 1/3 of the way across the river near a crease. The fishery itself was in pristine condition, easy access with relatively gentle slopes; and even the grass had been cut along the path which was appreciated. Great day even though the fishing was very hard.

First day out on a weeks fishing trip. River still low after a few cold nights fishing it was very slow to start. It's nice talking to Don Macer-Wright, who apart from being pleasant to talk too is also very knowledgeable and helpful. I had two Barbel best being a first Wye double at 10lb 1oz, and Mark managed to get four up to about 8 1/2.

Saw quite a few fish moving, but no takes. Conditions were favourable with fog till late morning, after which cloud rolled in to leave a perfect afternoon for fishing. Even though no fish were taken, all in all, a great day's fishing.
