The bottom pool failed to produce so we moved to the top end of the beat. George quickly found barbel and ended the day with 6 up to 5lbs, I blanked but I had the privilege of a fast take from a salmon I was unprepared for and lost.

Seemingly perfect conditions but despite a substantial fly hatch things were a bit slow particularly in the afternoon. Having said that smaller fish were moving continually through the day.
Caught on damsel emerger, olive, or brown buzzer type fly.

Lovely night on this beat. 2 sea trout caught (1.5lb and 3lb), 1 lost. The 3lber was kept, the other returned. Quite a few brownies taking interest. I met 3 club members who were fishing and they were very friendly. I believe they each caught a couple of sea trout. Snake flies and surface lures worked well.

A beautiful bright sunny day and very low, clear water made this a blank in terms of fish caught. Managed to get one or two trout to rise to a dryfly without takes; rises very sporadic and fish were mainly well down and out of the way due to the unfavourable conditions. But a lovely way to spend a day in such peaceful countryside. Barbel and chub observed in deeper lies beneath trees.

River looked perfect but I still only had 1 Chub on rolling meat. Great day out - went home tired but happy.
