This venue is ideal for anglers not wanting to route march 2 miles to get to the river, good parking easy to find and swims with steps or easy access I make these points as information to new anglers. River low and clear started on the float catching chub to 2 1/2 lb waiting for late afternoon, Barbel did not disappoint, not the biggest, 3 between 5 and 6lb but fought well. If more water and cloud cover who knows a favourite venue for me
but I just love barbel and the 3ft twitch, back in September I hope.

A good evening session with the river lower than previously but still with colour, and the weather calm, cloudy and showery. Fish caught throughout on pellet and meat. Largest barbel about 6.5 lbs. Observed that several swims on the lower, faster water are now inaccessible following winter floods.

Firstly, the beat below (Abercynrig) was being fished by two anglers, even though when I checked no rods had been booked on WUF, are there other anglers who can use the stretch? Possibly explains the poor fishing I had on there a few days back? A couple of nice fish in the riffles, steady hatch in the evening

Beat:Swan Meadow Fishery
Fishing:Trout (River)

Very hot weather fishing difficult due to low water and the temperature, salmon moving in nearly all Swan Meadows pools but trout not rising as they normally do but I was rewarded with a very nice 3lb brown on a size 12 pheasant tail

Low water. The new stile across the barbed wire is great.

After visiting the Royal Welsh show at Builth on a very hot morning I headed for the shade of the Edw in the afternoon.
Around a dozen trout caught on a Gold bead nymph cast up into the fast water in the heads of the pools.
Fished between 1 and 3 by which time I got to the gates that cross the river and decided to head for home and and a cool drink.

River had dropped and cleared making fishing a little more difficult. I had 3 barbel and 5 chub, David had 7 barbel and 17 chub.
Our last day on this stretch, thanks to bailiff Colin for preparing the swims.

First visit to the Wye didn't dissapoint, once we settled in the bottom pool (listen to peoples advice) we caught steadily all day, the weather didn't seem to affect the fishing to much with the temperature about 25 degrees and sunny, boat traffic was quite light and most were respectful. All fish caught on pellets and feeders - take loads we got through 10 between us. Best advice - just enjoy it.
