Only fished a morning session and made for my favourite spot at the end of the fishery. This used to be Barbel alley but today it was Chub channel. I had a 3lb Chub 1st cast and many more followed with the Chub hitting the pellet as soon as the feeder hit the water. Great fishing if you were after Chub as they were of a good average size, mostly between 3 and 4lbs and I had two fish approaching 5lbs. Eventually two Barbel managed to move quick enough to grab my bait with the largest just over 7lbs. I only had my Barbel gear with me and was not able to make the best of the Chub fishing. A large waggler fished shallow down the far bank would have had a field day!

Strong upstream wind most of the day meant bite detection difficult! Only two chub around the 4lbs mark plus an eel was all I had to show for my efforts, packed up at 6pm due to long drive back home so I missed the best time of the day. Last year fished the same swim and caught 7 barbel and 5 chub..work it out?

Good parking access to the fishery very close to the bank. Swims near the parking area and upstream to the beat limit were accessible but a bit disappointing, especially with the river being so low. Swims downstream completely overgrown and a real battle to get to even without tackle. Fished the last swim at the upper limit of the beat a deeper water pool which had been very well prepared with good access and features but a tackle grave yard with lots of snags. Between the two of us 5 Barbel to 8lbs 9 Chub to 3.5lbs and 3 eels.

A beautiful beat with good access. Top of the beat chocked with weed. We caught steadily over the day on pellet/feeder and meat tactics. A total of 13 barbel to 7 1/2 lb and chub to 3 1/2 lb. We will be back to explore this stretch further. Thanks W&U.

River low, slow and very weedy. Did not look like a barbel stretch but what do we know. We struggled to catch after trying various methods and managed 4 chub between us. We normally catch quite well on other wye usk waters. This certainly is the most panoramic views of all the venues we have fished. Do not know if we will return to this venue but it may fish better with more flow later in year. Hill climb is horrendous, would not attempt this if you are unfit or have a heart condition. We had to have a good rest afterwards.

Tenkara Day: A thoroughly excellent event. I learned a lot from the experts and enjoyed the day immensely. Thanks to everyone concerned especially Roger who instructed at Eyton.

Water very low at Luggsbridge. 2 decent chub to hand and a stonker lost. The two were 3 and 5lb the fish lost was bigger. Very weird - fished up till 8ish and chub never switched on. Started mid afternoon and the two chub came from a lovely pool tail that I know holds some decent fish.

Wonderful venue. Just being there was a pleasure. Catching was a bonus. Hard day due to sunny conditions but all came good in last couple of hours with majority of fish coming then. Biggest barbel was 7 lbs 9 ozs and biggest chub a perfect specimen of 5 lbs 4 ozs. best thing was there was another day left (see separate report).

Great days fishing as normal. Dont know where all the ranunculus has gone. The river was the lowest I've ever seen it. The paddlers and boat people must be disturbing the weed or it's been washed away in the floods. This will have a large negative impact on the river over a longer period.
Anyway the fishing was good the largest barbel was about 4lbs and the largest chub 3lbs 14oz. With the water level low I believe the bigger fish have moved from the bottom pool.

So having not caught anything on the Tenkara day fishing at Titley, ventured downstream and had a couple of hours in the evening on Court of Noke fishing the faster stretches at the top of the beat. Conditions far from ideal with a blustery wind and squally showers. Fished that well known international combination of Tenkara rod and size 12 coch y bondhhu and had 4 wbt trout - 10", 8", 6" and 5". First fish was a real beauty and all fish are now very plump. Despite conditions was a lot of fly life including a few mayflies.
