Despite the rest of the country basking in sunshine, the day started with wind and rain. Another great day out, with 4 fish on the dry. Lots more came to the fly but did not contact. Usually this might mean fishing too heavy, but I was using size 16 flies and 3 lb leader.

Another warm day with a few showers. Fished Boys Rocks from the island. River clear and low, but looked promising. Unfortunately I tried everything I knew, pellets, meat, paste, corn, etc, but I couldn't buy a barbel. I did pull out of one and caught an eel, but that was it. Decided to call it a day at 1pm as I planned an early start the next day. I notice that the anglers the following day had the same result. Some times it's your day and sometimes not, but it's still a very great river to fish.

Great days fishing despite bright conditions. All fish caught using feeder with hemp and pellets. Barbel to 7lb and chub to 4lb. Was more productive as the sun dropped about 7pm. We fished from about 1pm to 10 pm.

A challenging but enjoyable first attempt at Welsh wild stream fishing. The water levels were low and clear, the fauna was in a 'catch-all' mood and the fish were spooky. One of us used a dry fly on one rod while the other used a Klink and dink.
Under the guidance of Oliver Burch, my brother and I learned a lot on how to go about fishing these charming waters. A very enjoyable day's fishing. Would recommend a day with Oliver to anyone - Thanks.

Our second day fishing under the expert guidance of Oliver Burch. A very different beat from our previous day on Llynfi Dulas. Our approach was again to use one rod dry fly and another with a nymph/dry duo, New Zealand style. Weather was cloudy with some sunny spells.
Water levels were better after some overnight rain with the water also slightly clouded. The fish were feeding with relative confidence and both methods produced results. A stealthy approach was still an absolute must along with the all important first cast. Plenty of fish seen, some caught, many missed or lost due to our own clumsiness. Some truly enchanting pools to fish with a good few trout rising. Some late mayfly were seen but enough to be called a hatch.
Thanks again for a wonderfully enjoyable day with our guide. Many thanks again to Mr Burch for sharing his excellent company and boundless knowledge. We shall return.

Busy start to the day on my first visit this season to Abernant. Took about 10 fish on a F-Fly in the first hour and a half. Mostly small trout and grayling but a couple half pound fish, but nice to turn up on a river during a good hatch.
However the action stopped dead on the surface so fished New Zealand style and took fish to a pound from the faster water. After 2pm it was very hard to get a bite by any method.
Most the fish here are small but a great fish about 3lb swam straight past me, so they are there!

Very, very tough.
2 anglers fished the bottom 2 pegs in the wood from 9am to 8pm. 1 angler fished a complete blank while I resorted to fishing meat just to get bites and ended up with a dozen eels and 3 small chub.
No bites on pellet or corn. Canoes were a nightmare, there were literally hundreds from 9am to 5pm, diving into the water in the swims being fished - though I don't think it actually made any difference to the fishing. The general ignorance of some people is quite astounding.
