We all used feeders and pellets for hook bait. I had high expectations of this venue but sadly I was a little disappointed. Absolutely no swims had been cut out for fishing, we walked the whole stretch and still didn't know where to fish because of lack of swims, unlike the opposite bank where locals had proper cut out swims to fish and at a fraction of the price. Having said all that we did all catch chub and barbel in the areas we ended up fishing which was on the concrete near where you park and on the beach.

River in good condition but low and clear. Occasionaly bright conditions made it difficult. Managed to catch a number of chub and 1 barbel by moving around from swim to swim. Overall a very pleasant days fishing - will be back!!

My second visit to Lyepole, the first being back at the beginning of the year, the river and surroundings looked even more stunning in late summer, this really is a lovely place to be.
Walked all the way down stream and found some very fishy looking spots but couldn't get a take, then as I made my way back up stream I noticed fish taking off the surface in the most inaccessible spot, after a lot of effort I was in a position to present a fly to the taking fish...and then managed to miss 5 good takes on a dry fly, not the best start but very exciting stuff!
After lunch the hatch of small, pale up winged flies that the fish were feeding on in the morning were still coming off the water and I found some more feeding fish, this time upstream from the car park. This time I had better luck landing a nice brown trout and quickly losing another, resting that glide I moved downstream to find more feeding fish which turned out to be very small grayling, lovely to see healthy young fish in the river but I decided to leave them alone till they'd grown up a bit so moved on and promptly landed a lovely big grayling and another brown trout, all fish taken off the surface on small dries, very enjoyable fishing.

A new fishery to the 3 of us. We were advised to fish the slower water at the top of the beat. It did not look particularly inviting. We struggled to find fish.
Ledgered Pellet found the fish that were caught.

Fished 10.00 to 19.30.
Found the much discussed walk fine due to dry conditions, would be very treacherous if wet. Need a certain level of fitness but fine for two active middle aged blokes. Travelled light as advised and this is a must.
Fished in the wood as this looks most likely for barbel. The fish fed steadily all day from the very first cast and between the two of us we ended up with 20 barbel and 9 chub. Lost 2 or 3 too. Barbel went up to about 8.75lb and all were incredibly strong and fit. Chub up to 4ish, nothing of any real size. Some swims very snaggy, especially the swim with the biggest rock on the bank. Lost about 6 or 7 feeders so take plenty. The best swim was about 20 yards downstream of the huge rocks, and this produced 12 of the 20 barbel. All bar one of the chub came 20 yards downstream of there. Fish taken on various pellets, didnt seem to matter too much as they often seemed to respond to the sound of the feeder going in.
Packed up at 19.30 but the fishing had surprisingly been at it quietest during the last 2 or 3 hours.
Only 2 pairs of canoes which was a great bonus, and both were very respectful.
Overall we had a fantastic days fishing and I appreciated the contact from the Foundation offering to move our booking if we thought the terrain would be too much.
lovely stretch.

Foggy to start with but soon warmed up when the sun broke through. Quite a few fish rising on all the pool's. Access to the beat very good. Lots of fly life around the water. All fish taken on Klink and dink method. Good beat will be back.
