River was still fairly high but the colour was good. Fished at the metal steps at the lower end of the section. Fished pellet in a large open end feeder answer 12 mm halibut pellet on hook. After couple of hours had a few good bites but sure they were chub, did not connect with anything. Then a classic tap and rod bent round and soon a barbel of around 8 lbs was in the net. Fished on but strangely no further bites so moved up into the meadow just above the middle parking spot. Thanks to the appearance of very hot sun had no further bites so packed up an hour later. Th roughly enjoyed the day and will certainly be back.

When we booked this length back in January I was planning to do some trotting on this short and shallow stretch however the river was still a couple of feet up and there was no chance of this. We did find some fish on the right hand bank where the flow was a little steadier. We had 9 barbel to 8lb 1 oz and 4 chub to 4lb 6oz on feeder and pellet tactics.

Some seriously deep pools! I used a Klinkhammer and then a PTN but no luck. I will try to come back in September.

This was by far the best beat I fished during my trip, yet again another stunning backdrop downstream, not far from car park with good access to the bank and many options to fish. I was catching as soon as I cast in and the action was spread out all day till my last cast, the first half of the session was dominated by chub all of a specimen size, biggest was 5lb. By the afternoon the barbel moved in and the sport got even better. I lost 4 barbel and 1 chub in the bedrock so be careful! All the fish I hooked were a good size the smallest was 6lb, was very happy to net 8 fish. This is a great venue I can't wait to return.

A beautiful beat to fish. 5 small Browns up to 8 inches. 2 on dry gray Wolff 3 on gold head ptn. You have to work hard for your fish as is often the case with small streams but they put up a good fight. River was a bit coloured after rain. All fish returned and healthy.

Area:Teme
Beat:Bucknell
Fishing:Trout (River)
Arrived at the river full of expectation following a couple of good catch reports from this beat recently. This part of the Teme has a habit of drying up in summer...but not yet this year! Alas, the river was still high and coloured following the wet weather of the past few weeks.
With hardly any rises spotted, nymphing the shallow riffles produced 4 small wild browns (biggest 8 inches) with 4 or 5 others lost. All were in extremely good condition, beautifully marked and as fat as an English football hooligan. I also lost a substantial fish that leapt twice before shaking the hook. I had it at least 2lbs.
A great beat to fish in lovely surroundings. I hope to return when the water has dropped and cleared a little.

Took the old man on his first trip to the Wye today, he's never caught a barbel before and catches 6 barbel on his first visit compared to my humble 3, a chub each of 3lbs to finish the day. Fished from 10.30 till 17.00, so a very good day, Biggest Barbel was 8lbs, smallest was 5lbs, all caught on halibut pellets/ feeder.

Weather was fairly kind and only rained for a few minutes. Slight breeze. Water still a bit coloured but clearer than it was a couple of weeks ago. Wading is easy - but suggest having a wading stick as the river bed not visible.
18 WBT all in good nick and safely returned. Best was 12".
All caught either on a soft hackle dry or black magic nymph 20" under a life jacket elk hair caddis (all flies from Jon Barnes) also and 2 small grayling on soft hackle dry, plus a decent lunch at the pub. Added to which - good company from JH so a great day out.
Used 10ft 4wt all day - seemed about right for me.
18 Trout, 2 Grayling
