A beautifully sunny day and the Hindwell looked to be in perfect condition with a good pace of clear water on it.
However no fish rising and only one small trout and one small grayling fell to size 16 Pearly PTN. It is interesting to see that there are grayling in the Hindwell.

Iam afraid we haven't bothered the fish saw one rise top end of the beat but not much evidence of fish. Wonderful local but chatted to a local man who said he'd seen otters recently: significant? But also said the private stretch had not produced either.

Very tricky and wild beat with some self induced confusion as to where to get to the river. Very tough casting in most places but a lovely potential for those more skilled than I. Caught one small trout to save the blank on a white heavy nymph. Once again not a single fish rising all morning and afternoon.
Water temperature must be much lower than normal this time of year. Will be a tricky beat when trees in full leave shortly.

Quiet in the morning on the middle section, but the lower end livened up after lunch. Very little in the way of fish rising, but the one I did see took a parachute Adams first time. The rest were taken on small nymphs, they seemed to have a preference for size 14 green tungsten bead with green dubbing. One very pretty fish caught of around 1.5lb. Beautiful markings. Lower end of the beat is lovely, especially in the sunshine!

Arrived late morning bright and sunny 15 degrees, encouraging to see hawthorns on the wing (but not on the river) and a few rising fish to flies unknown so decided on a dryfly afternoon but couldn't tempt any to variety of offerings. Switched to ptn for almost immediate small wbt but persevered with dries, breeze came up to hamper presentation but could still find sheltered spots. Lots of variety in the odd flies coming off but went cool about 5:30 and a hoped for rise didn't materialise. Water clear and lowish. Lovely day in lovely surroundings despite few fish, buzzards, wagtails & otter.

A great days fishing on the beautiful Trelough Pool. Wasn't easy due to quite a strong wind which made surface fishing almost impossible. Landed a pristine 9 pound common on maggot late morning, but only caught small fish apart from that - a mixture of perch, eel, roach, rudd and bream. Lovely to have the lake to yourself, had company from the cows and a beautiful hare. I will be back soon.

I have only recorded the fish I caught, the other angler Clive caught 14 but will report his own. The fish was about 8inches long and in beautiful condition it was returned safely and unharmed.
Please convey my thanks to all concerned with organising a fantastic weekend Wild Stream fishing; I will also return next year. Also thanks to the Riverside Inn where I stayed on Friday 13th; excellent accommodation and a super host to the event. I would also recommend the Oak at Wigmore where I stayed on the Saturday evening.
Thanks agin for a wonderful weekend.

Persuaded my friend Mike to have a go at fly fishing and bravely booked this beat. Despite the fact that we both have 30 years coarse fishing experience, we were not that hopeful as I'm a novice too.
Arrived at about 10:30 to find the river running beautifully, so we entered the water. This was when we found our wading gear probably wasn't up to the job, we spent most of the day like Bambi on ice but still managed to remain upright all day! I lost count of how many likely looking spots I messed up on the approach.
Despite this Mike caught 4 trout, all on black or pheasant tail gold heads. I had 5 fish all on the same as mike, except for one on a black klinkhammer (my first on a dry fly). The fish were all about 4-10 inches except for one really good fish I had that went over a pound, all were returned.
We both lost and missed many more fish than we caught and learned loads. We saw quite a few small fish and quite a lot rising, and there was a huge hatch of small black flies in the afternoon (sorry guys don't know the correct name yet). There was also a hatch of mayfly in the early evening.
There was also a huge amount of fry in some areas, not sure what they were but there were hundreds in small protected areas of the river.
Overall an amazing day on a stunning beat, culminating in the spectacular Hergest falls which alone would have been worth the walk!
Thanks WUF!
