Fished for trout as the water was low. Two caught, one fell to an emerger and one to a wet.

Beat:The Olchon

Fishing:Trout (River)

16 or so to hand in the few hours on the Olchon. Klink and dink in the faster water and picked up five or six until fish started rising to the swarms of midges. Switched to size 18 cdc f-fly and picked off a further 10 then abruptly all rises ceased and with that so did the feeding frenzy, very bizarre, several olives on the water. Could of been more, had several shake the hook. All in all an enjoyable few hours.

Fished for about an hour over lunchtime. The river was a little high, making most of the beat inaccessible.
Caught one rising trout, on a grey duster klinkhammer, in the top pool.

Fishing:Trout (River)

It would seem that reading the other returns the Arrow is yet to get going - not a single fish surfaced all day, probably not helped by the overnight rain that meant the water seemed to colour up as the day went on. Out of hope rather than expectation I 'Klinked an' Dinked' my way round the beat and ended up with half a dozen small trout. Some of the pools would have suited using heavy bugs as they are waist deep with good flow.

Great day fishing with Dave Marsh on this fantastic beat. Lots of different types of water to fish but all 9 fish were taken on the dry fly; March Brown imitations. We did have an unusual interval when some swimmers came and bathed in the pool that Dave was fishing! Fished from 10:00 to 15:30 when the hatches had come to an end and the fish had stopped rising.
Highly recommended beat.

Very good conditions on this lovely stretch of water. We fished from midday until aroung 19:45 with a total catch of 9 trout to 14", all on Grey Wulff. For us this was one of our best days and we came away pleased with oursleves despite one broken rod and a lost wading staff. Will go back and will maybe find the wading staff somewhere.

Both to nymph. River had some colour initially and was up. Then within 30mins it coloured right up with a lot of debris coming down. Started to clear a bit later in the day but remained up.

Heavy rain overnight so I expected the river to be coloured but in fact it was fine for the first hour or two. Parked at bottom section and soon found fish rising but we both failed to match the hatch until the trout later started taking duns. At that point I rose two very good trout on a CDC olive but failed to connect with either because the fly I was using had no hook! My partner meanwhile was landing her second trout of the day (both 1lb or so) on a comparadun.

I also met a nice guy from the Brecon club who not only pointed out very politely that I was fishing on the wrong side but also gave me two excellent march brown emerger patterns for good measure. Not long after that the river started rising (and colouring) because of rain elsewhere and the rises stopped but for a 10 inch trout that made its way onto my hook. I will fish this beat again and hopefully fish it better!

Arrived at 11 intending to fish for Salmon, but the river was very low so thought that it would be pointless to do so this far up, so went for trout instead.
We caught 4 fish between the 3 of us. All on Olives or variations of, in the faster moving water immediately above and below the island. One was probably 1 and 1/2 pounds the others 3/4 pound.
Really great beat to fish, although a lack of waders does restrict you to the lower section of the beat.
