Very enjoyable day spent fishing in a truly beautiful location. Weather cloudy with occasional heavy showers, but long spells of sunshine. Mayfly nymphs in the water and a few mayflies in the air! Fish occasionally slashing at adult mayfly imitation skittered on surface but more consistently interested in Walker's mayfly nymph cast upstream. Fine trout of 1lb in the net eventually, on the nymph - plenty of action but first time on a river in a few years and kept missing takes and losing fish!

An unbelievable day on an incredibly beautiful little stream. We lost count of fish caught - action was non stop.
Biggest just over 1 lb and lost a nice one of 2-3lb.

Drove through some very wet conditions to arrive on a river that was still low but just starting to rise. Started downstream & fishing was very sporadic with the odd trout taken in the faster glides.
Lady Alexander Catch produced 3 more small trout & a lean 12oz grayling before taking a large 1.5lb trout by the fallen tree.
2 Canoeists had camped further upstream by the Edw & made for an exit on my arrival - I wasn't up to speed with Llanstephan ruling & hopefully they collected the beer can that preceeded them!
After lunch the river was on the rise fairly quickly and churned up a lot of the slimey algal bottom building up over the last few weeks - crossing became challenging so stayed on the downstream runs to take some more small trout and the odd grayling.
Tried numerous patterns but by far the most effective were weighted ptns.

Grey, overcast, wet and windy!! Were we put off? Not a bit of it. We had a great day on this remote Llyn and were rewarded with 19 fantastic black fin trout the largest to 12". Green flies were the order of the day with sub surface sport and an occasional rise during the very infrequent sunny spells. Wonderful venue and will return in the future.

3 small brownies to small ptn, plus 2 small grayling. Nothing hatching of any significance with only one or two rises through out the day Attempted the section above the top weir being just shallow enough to wade most of it, only to come face to face with a down stream bound canoe with a couple of characters who didn't look like they wanted to be asked to leave, so, I didn't! By the way it's definitely an otter on the water, on arrival I made my way down to the lower weir and there he was, in my pitch!! I watched him duck and dive for a while collecting morsels from the bottom and then, when he noticed me he seemed to just disappear. Magic! Many thanks WUF.

After a night of strong rain the water level was higher then Saturday also little bit coloured. There was good surface activity but only on the slower river stretches. Had 3 trout, 2 of them about 1lb, one trout was nearly 2 lb, really good size. All fish has been returned like a Saturday. Great two days in river Taff. Only disappointment was with the rubbish. Both banks have a problems with it. People, please clean up after yourself. Clean rivers will produce more beautiful fish and for us more catches. Lastly, my tackle: fly rod Orvis 7'6, DT floating line, klinkhammer grey top brown body. Thank you.

A great stretch of the Usk . 4 wbt caught to 15", all very good quality fish. All taken with dry olive patterns. Lots of fish rising, tricky casting in a strong westerly wind. Wading to cast to the far bank was a challenge. Will come back for sure.

Fished lower section wading is not easy river had some colour and even though I was told Taff trout are not selective, I found them quite the opposite. There were a good few flies hatching, grannom ldo's and a couple of others. A good few trout rising to nymphs or emergers but it took me good few hours to catch the first fish on hares ear emerger after several fly changes. So in the last couple hours of fishing I had 3 trout; a few takes and few refuses. Would be back with revised fly box. People of Wales, please stop throwing rubbish in your rivers. From hundreds of plastic bags hanging like a wash from the last spate to household waste and mattresses etc.
