A heavy hatch of March Browns from around 11.30 to 1.15pm with some LDOs although the LDO hatch never got into full swing. Trout were taking the March Browns as they emerged at the start but were very fussy about which artificials they would take. We took fish on large CDC duns and deer hair emerger style patterns, as well as getting one or two on spiders. Best fish about 15 inches. We caught 6 but missed and lost many. Absolutely fantastic to see the March Browns hatching in such numbers.

I ended up taking 4 trout at Hergest Falls, 3 of them were approx 12 ounces but the 4th being a decent size of 2lbs. All fish were released and all were taken from the same pool.
The river was running high and fast but the visibility was decent enough to drift nymphs. There was how ever a lot of dead fall washed downstream that could present a problem in the future if these heavy rains clear up.

4 x trout, two at 12 inches, one at 15 inches and one at 16 inches, Bastard Adams. A warmer day than of late, up to 13 degrees, with a downstream breeze. I arrived around lunchtime and sat down picnicking on the bank, waiting for something to happen. It was a bit of a wait, but between 1 and 1.30 the large dark olives did hatch off and a few trout rose. I tried my best to make hay while the sun shines! It turned out to be a very short hatch today, and the march browns did not follow on as usual.

Sunny spells. Several olive hatches, biggest at around 2pm. 6 fish took the dry, just one a PTN (several fish came up even when none rising and no fly on the water). Instructions very clear.

Slightly murky water but overall good fishing conditions and great weather. Fished 1200 - 1700, no surface activity, hooked one on a small beaded type nymph; felt a reasonable fish but not seen and managed to disengage itself pretty quick.
