Hard to find pace in water for barbel. Managed to catch just a few each on ledgered elipse pellets. Best fish of the day 8 lbs 7oz. River desperately needs additional water + may be just on end of 'spawning' due to season lateness. All fish in good condition though, with normal hard fight from Wye fish.
Pleased with the accessibility to the swims. Thanks.

Cracking stretch of river and a lovely place to be! Plenty of nymphs of all descriptions revealed on the rocks in the river and an impressive amount of shrimp, maybe better then the Derbyshire Wye etc? 3 trout to hand up to 12", bumped off quite a few more as I was christening a new rod and still getting used to it as its fairly fast. Well that's my excuse!
Fish were moving in the tails of pools to spinner as the evening wore on, no sedge came out to play.

River really low. Top section of beat needs more swims to fish from lower section. Completely different lovely stretch of the river, needed 2 to 3 foot of water, gin clear. Still caught fish but hard work. Barbel up to 8lb, Chub to 5lb, bait used - corn and pellet on feeder.

A very pleasant day, fish a bit shy but a beautiful place to be enhanced by efforts and dedication of ghillie. All fish fell to pellets.

Mixed weather, cloud turning to drizzle in the afternoon, but 5 browns to 14" caught on wet Coch y Bonddu fished upstream, all amazingly strong hard-fighting fish. Stayed at the Cammarch Hotel and went on to fish a good evening rise on the middle Irfon beat. A further 9 trout to 16" and one 16" grayling all taken on a dry sedge.

Back aching from the previous two days fishing. I knew the Clettwr would be a tough proposition and so it proved to be: the one consolation was the 12" trout that went for my dry. The only rise of the day. Two other tiddlers on nymph. Spooked everything the rest of the time! Water level ok.

I'll have to give this river another try. Only had an hour and a 7ft rod and it's quite a big bit of water. Fell in despite it being the easiest wading of the trip! Ran for hotel and warm clothes.
