Overcast with drizzle and stiff Northerly breeze. fished both sides with both fly and spin. No sign of life and no other fishermen on the lake. Tend to agree with other postings that this water is not being maintained. Enjoyable peace and quiet despite no success.

Difficult day on a rising river. Had one proper bite all day and managed to lose what felt like a decent fish. Also managed to lose about 20 quids worth of feeders, leads and hooks! Lovely beat though. Always a pleasure to fish a WUF beat.

Arrived at 2pm with my daughter to lovely looking beat and red hot sunshine. The river was carrying colour and up couple a feet so we feeder fished pellet, landing two tiny barbel after a down pour. Switched from fishing mid river to slack water after constantly picking up weed on the line and landed two decent chub on the 4lb mark then switched back to main flow at 6pm and pulled in 4 more barbel, the biggest going 5lb to the delight of my little girls face. Small beat but enjoyable.

Good level to the river and just a tinge of colour on arrival. Promising start with a few small trout to GRHE. Some truly tropical downpoors added more colour to the river and the fishing slowed down. However three further trout added 8-13inches made a very satisfactory day an a excellent antidote to the recent low rivers.

River falling this morning and looking good! I was only able to fish an hour in the morning but it looked promising. Nothing caught though. Thanks again to Barry who owns this stretch for his infectious enthusiasm for fishing!

Great day on the Usk again, water high so wading a bit tricky!

I was on the bank at sunrise and what a picture perfect location with the sun struggling to break through the mist. Perfect start to the Autumn. I was impressed by the ease of access and convenience of the car parking. The beat is not long and the options for swims are limited so being a lone angler I was quite happy. The flow was strong and the colour good following recent rains, it looked promising. I fished the bottom pool from the rocks providing more freedom to explore the river further from the bank. I used pellet and scalded pellets in a feeder over a bed of hemp. I tried various spots from near bank across the main flow fishing each for around 30 - 40 minutes all without a bite. The main flow was bringing through some debris and loose weed, but nothing problematic just no bites. I moved up to the top pool for a change at about 11:30 and followed the same approach although without as much hope given the height of the sun now and the preceding lack of activity. Nothing changed. I didn't have a touch although I did get snagged repeatedly on the rocky bed and likely underwater debris.By 2.30pm the weather had changed and the rain had gone from a shower to biblical. Without a touch and this being the last day of a week on the Wye with a drive back to London ahead of me, I threw in the towel. My first blank of the week. But I left with a smile having found a delightful location that clearly fishes well, today was just not my day. I will be back, maybe later this year, if not certainly next. I'd like to give a shout out for the Ferndale Bed and Breakfast in Lydbrook www.bandbforestofdean.co.uk. I only stayed one night and was up too early for the breakfast, but the accommodation was first class and my hosts Andy and Christine could not have been more helpful or welcoming. It was also very reasonably priced. I unhesitatingly recommend this B&B to anyone fishing Wyebank or nearby.
Thanks to WUF for making my first trip to the Wye very memorable.

River was fairly high and running quite fast following heavy rain. I saw 3 salmon-leaps and a family of very noisy otters! The chub were caught on trotted bread. Sorry for not doing this before - my printer ran out of ink!

Great day on the river. Pellet and feeder did the trick. 12 barbel in a rising river was excellent. No monsters but still very enjoyable for E and S. Lost a couple of feeders. Need to use 4oz ones to hold bottom with all the debris coming down. Once they move it then jams between the rocks.
Only the one eel.

Heavy rain the day brfore ensured that the Wye was high and in good flow, not quite a raging torrent but more than slightly perturbed I would say. The water was the colour of chocolate and the weed came tumbling down. I had a hard fighting Barbel early on but then it went quite with only 3 Chub later on.
