Very tough day. Windy, chilly and not a fish showing itself. So much better than work though.

Very tricky today! Water levels desperately low in the Escley with bright sunshine made for a challenge. All but three fish took midge patterns, the other 3 took size 20 beadhead at the heads of the deepest pools. Only saw a dozen or so rising fish in the few hours I was there, snapping at midges. Limited olives on the water and what were there the trout totally ignored. Rain needed to freshen the stream and get the trout feeding....

Saturday proved to be a good day despite the varying weather, not many hatches were showing but fish were rolling under the surface. Czech and standard over and across proved to be the best methods. The fish were holding deep. In Total 4 trout were taken with one being decent size 1.5lbs and a Grayling approx 9"taken on a gold bead head nymph. Lovely beat with very deep pools for holding salmon however known were seen.

2 of us fished Trelough pool on the weekend and caught 10 fish. 9+ carp biggest was 14lb, all commons and a 5lb bream. It's a great little lake but really shallow in places causing leads to plug in silt.
A little over priced but you are getting the lake to yourself which is great no facilities on site but there is a garage 2 or 3 mile up the road. But all in all a good little lake.

Beat:The Foy Fishery

Fishing:Salmon

I would like to lay the blame for not catching on a tricky upstream wind but the total bag for the day belies this. Once again it would appear that every species bar Salmon was intent on taking any fly that was offered; the Chub being especially enthusiastic!
One major positive was the knowledge gained from wadding this beat with the levels at sub 0.35 at Ross; both left and right banks of Foy Bridge section are accessible and I look forward to an evening with the single hander later in the season.

3 Trout, 1 Barbel, 7 Chub
