All fish caught on weighted PTN fished on a French leader.
The fish were very spooky in the low clear water but were more than willing to take a nymph in the faster runs. Best fish a plump 12 incher the rest between 6 and 10 inches.
countless Salmon parr around who would grab anything that moved then wriggle of the hook.
Thanks to the visiting angler I met at the top of the beat who kindly gave me a lift back down to the car.

First time on this beat, and enjoyed it. River low and clear, persistent downstream wind, and sunny most of the time. So not ideal.
Fish were hard to come by, caught 4, missed 2 good fish. Probably could have done better but just nice to stand in the river for a few hours. Had to take a trout on the Salmon Rod as hooked badly, about 1 and 1/2 pound.

Fished from the off with pulley hair rig with luncheon meat at the hook and ground halibut pellets and groundbait mix in feeder. All started well two in the net in first hour and one lost the two were both 4-5lbs. Moved to next swim and hooked a clonking eel of about 3lb which totally minced my rig. Next chubby looking area produced 2 of about 3lb. Next pool gave the biggest of day a fine chubby fella 5-6lb. Like a muppet I switched to float and took three chublets of 6 inches. Lovely way to spend half a day. The one lost in first pool was way bigger, barbel I feel.

Warm day and river very low. Fished from 11:00 to 15:00 mainly on the lower stretch of the beat. Plenty of hatching fly including the odd Mayfly. Pair of Kingfishers seen. Fish caught on dry fly.

River at summer low, lot of fly life including mayfly. Managed to fish most of the beat during the afternoon. Casting a fly very challenging in places but rewarding. Fish 5" to 9" all on dry fly.

A pleasant evening out on this beat. Fished from gate two to gate 3. I cleared enough of a major obstacle halfway down the beat to allow access along the river bank instead of leaving the river and struggling up the bank.

Another fun day on Wyebank with 35 fish on the bank. We arrived a couple of hours before first light and whilst sitting it out on the bank, awaiting daybreak, we witnessed a pair of otters feeding in the pool. Fished from first light until 8pm and had fish throughout the day but with the bulk of the action coming before 11am and after 4pm. Barbel included two at 8lb 14oz, three +6lb, one +5lb and the rest mostly in the 3-4lb range. The Chub went to 4lb 8oz. To keep the bites coming we had to loose feed pellet and hemp regularly and change methods. We caught on open-ended feeder with pellets and groundbait or scalded pellets moulded around grippa leads. Successful hook baits included Hinders Elips, Bait-Tec Hybrid barbel, Sticky Baits The Krill boilies wrapped in matching paste and scalded Halibut pellets. We struggled to get bites when it was raining or when the sun was shining directly on the run. Canoes were out in force from 11am to 4pm with long periods where we were forced to rest the swim.

Very few fish rising. There was a tough downstream wind. The river was clear and low. 2 fish tried to take the dry fly in the Channel section, but failed to connect. Lovely stretch of the river.

Wonderful stretch with good access and views are excellent. Fishing was tough as the river was low and clear. Fished in the fast section in front of island and deeper runs either side of island with pellets/meat on feeder and rolling meat but only two barbel caught by my colleague, biggest went 9.4lbs. Salmon jumping all day. Would love to fish this section with a couple of more feet on the river and slight colour. However, still a wonderful experience thanks WU.
