Another great day on the Wye, river well up and coloured 3 foot plus on the river gauge but still found some areas to fish and some feeding fish too! Most to feeder tactics. A few people fishing opposite made some areas a bit tight but a great day all the same. Thank you wuf.

12 Barbel, 8 Chub

Arrived at river about 7:30 am JS and TL went in top field swims PS, MC and RL all went to downstream swims. All started off on feeder pellet and groundbait tactics, we fished till 10:30 then stopped for cup of tea in this time river had risen about 100mm and 4 barbel had been caught. After tea we resumed in our original swim, by 1:30 when we had another tea stop another 7 barbel had been caught and river had risen more. After lunch PS moved to swim near car park and we all continued in original swims. Throughout the afternoon the weather deteriorated and we had some long periods of heavy rain, but not deterred we finished the day RL 2, MC 3, PS 6, TL 6, JS 6, a grand total 25 barbel. The biggest fish 9.08. Fish caught on pellet, meat and boilies. Great day at a lovely venue.

Arrived at 2pm with my daughter to lovely looking beat,and red hot sunshine, river carrying colour and up couple a feet so feeder fished pellet landing two tiny barbel after a down pour, switched from fishing mid river to slack water after constantly picking up weed on line and landed to decent chub on 4lb mark then switched back to main flow at 6pm and pulled in 4 more barbel into dark, biggest going 5lbs to the delight of my little girl's face, small beat but enjoyable.

River running high, fast, cold and carrying quite a lot of colour. River level fell about 2" during the day. Mainly overcast with a few light showers. No obvious hatch observed. Both fish caught near the head of Lady A's pool on the weighted point fly of a 3 fly cast. Highlight of the day was seeing a kingfisher flying the length of the beat skimming just above the water.

Great to be back on the wye. 2 friends fished this beat,tricky,river 1'9". They caught a 12"brownie which was a pb for Mark.

Great day in the sun. River was dirty after a lot of rain on Sunday night and a bit high. I had no pulls and no fish wisely showed. Dave was fishing for trout,and it was tricky for him.

The river was around 9' indicated by the water level monitors.It was an overcast day with the odd light shower blowing over. Used a vibrax spinner for 8hrs across the entirety of the beat, yielding a small 1.5lb rainbow.
Would certainly fish again.

Sunshine and showers and a northerly wind. 3 WBT caught on beaded pheasant tail nymph. Two just below the bridge and the rest in the fast water. 12" , 10" and 8" Lost 2 All returned.

The previous day had been spent on the middle Usk with a salmon hooked and lost early on. This visit to Taybont was a response to the fairly thick look of the river at Glangrwyney after breakfast (though one Crickhowell member was fishing the fly there). The lake looked good from the road with a steady to fresh wind coming up from the dam end under good cloud cover. Despite a modest succession of fish raised, pricked, hooked and lost - to dries or a small hackled middle dropper - finally all went well with a handsome cock fish net weighed at 2lb 11oz. It was worth the BH traffic home. On its day what a place.
