Lovely Day on Craig Llyn. Started at the lower limit where I met the new owner. Nice to see someone who clearly will take care of the place. New styles and benches in place and bank clearances made to make life easier. My thanks to him for still allowing the WUF to use the beat, it's a personal favourite of mine.
The river still has the peaty tinge it has had for a few weeks, and the water temperature seemed cold for this time of the year, can only assume the dams have released some water. Level pretty low though.
No fish from the bottom section, which is normally such a good spot but picked up 4 four grayling in the pool below the island, all around 10-12 inches.
Moved upstream and waded right through the stretch up to the channel with limited success, only a couple of small fish in the pocket water. That was until I got to the section directly below the channel, where a lovely grayling measuring 19 inches took a weighted nymph in a foot of water and took off downstream. Took over 10 minutes to get in the net.
The channel, which is not somewhere I have had a lot of success before, also fished well, took 6 fish mainly from fish coming from depth to take my dry fly, and a couple on deep fished nymphs. The top section was a bit slow and the fish all seemed to be in broken water, where a took a few more up to 16 inches.
Lovely day in a lovely place!

Great day, we arrived near to mid day and straight away could see fish rising to the dry. Worked slowly up the river and took 5 fish before wrapping up at about 17:00. 4 were small, 1 a little over 1 1/4lbs. There was one that got way, always is - goes without saying it was huge. As ever, small dark olive CDC emerger flies worked well.

Had a red letter day on this stretch. Started at the upper reaches and fished back to the access path. The upper field is full of swan and goose poo so care needs to be taken if attempting to fish here its disgusting. Barbel caught weighed from 4lb up to 9lb 14oz and all fought like demons. The floating weed was a problem from about 10am till 6pm but stepping up the gear ensured that the rigs stayed in place. The chub weighed between 1lb and 5lb 5oz. Cracking day on a lovely beat and my father had his PB barbel at 9lb 6oz so he was well happy!!! Thank you WUF we will be back...!

A few hours 3.30pm - 7.30pm. A glance over the bridge at the start of beat will give you an idea of size and quantity of fish in here. There is a great head of fish. They are however incredibly spooky, and river level was extremely low. Recent rains had obviously had little if any affect here. The soft landing of a dry fly was often enough to send them bolting round the pools in a panic. Landed one 10 incher, lost another 2 fish, one of which was clearly well over 2lb. Unlucky today. 2 large salmon parr were also caught. On a good day, with a decent flow of water and a fly hatch some great sport could be had here.

Common sense suggested it would be a waste of time but I just wanted to go fishing. In the event it was an enjoyable and productive session. The Arrow was very low but the pools below and immediately above the weir provided some sport. I tried in vain to tempt fish on the surface with a variety of dries. A change to Klinkhammer Duo with a GRHE below resulted in seven fish up to 10”, all to the nymph.

Half a dozen quality Grayling excepted, a day of small things.
Mindful of other correspondents bagging up on the dry, even though there was very little rising, I used a Klinkhammer, fishing the stream, for much of the day. Plenty of fish came up for it but mostly, very small. Weighted nymphs - fished upstream or on the drift NZ style - produced most of the better fish. No complaints; but I felt I should have caught more. Down to the thing on the other end of the rod I am afraid; I missed a lot of fish today, and came away thinking that I had used the wrong method at the wrong time. The above numbers are estimates; these days I lose count once I get past three ...

Arrived at half three to fish the evening after the majority of canoes had been through. Fished pellet with feeder and had 9 barbel, they were all tiny maybe only a few ounces each and about 5 inches in length. Slightly frustrating they were not bigger but on the plus side looking good for the future. Nice evening in the sun in beautiful surroundings, hopefully back in a couple of weeks.
Thanks WUF.

A lovely stretch of water. Only 5 barbel caught, all on pellet and feeder. Fished 2 swims from around 7am to 3pm. On a better day I'm sure we would have caught more. Note that as others have said, it is quite a long walk from the parking.

Stunning day. So quiet we could hear the beat of the wings of the crows flying 100 metres away. Chap came along doing a bit of falconry. We had two wild carp, one 39cm long, the other 43cm long (which my son caught), both on sweetcorn. The larger one just on a float and the smaller using a surface float arrangement. Dead calm water, at some points it was so flat that ripples gave interference and Moire patterns.
